[warning: foul language ahead]
"-you can't even give birth!" the girl screeched at Tine. He formed his lips into a tight line, annoyed and hurt by her words. He hadn't expected to be confronted by such aggression from a siren while on his way to meet Type - who finally reached out to him after a month of receiving the letter.
It was true. He was nothing more than a simple human boy who was blessed with the mate bond connected to Sarawat, a handsome and talented Alpha. Sarawat would have a much better and stable future if Tine could at least be a girl, and help give birth to a successor, but that wasn't the case.
He couldn't give birth. He couldn't give Sarawat a blood heir to help secure his power in the pack. He could only stand beside him and give him love.
"What? Can't find anything to say?" The siren began speaking once more, "If you can't, then break it off with Sarawat-"
"-Why the fuck should he break it off with his mate?" The familiar voice of Type spat. Both Tine and the aggressor looked at the angered older boy.
"Tell me, why the fuck should my cousin break it off with his mate?" Type repeated. "So his mate could be with a bitch like you?"
He scoffed, stepping closer and making the girl shrink back a little, "Please. He'd never choose someone so filthy over his own mate. So I suggest you fuck off before I make you."
"You-you!" The girl pointed at him, her face red from anger and embarrassment. Unable to find anything to say, she stomped her feet, letting out a shriek, and walked away in frustration.
Type shook his head, turning to look at Tine who was still pondering over the girl's word about not being able to provide a child for Sarawat.
Noticing the depressed look, Type sighed. "Look, kid," he spoke up, "so what if you can't give birth? It's not as though you can't adopt."
"How much did you witness?" Tine asked, following Type as he began to walk.
"From the moment she walked up to you. I was somewhat late myself and saw you walking just as I arrived."
"Oh..."
"Don't worry too much," Type advised. "I used to be troubled about it too since Tharn is also an Alpha. But he reassured me it would be fine. The packs can always choose another alpha born as their leader. It doesn't have to be the blood child of their current leader, or the one who's next in line."
Tine nodded meekly, seemingly in a better mood. Type was right. And if Sarawat was so bothered by it, he would've rejected their bond by now. But he didn't. So the least Tine could do was have faith in his loving mate.

"How did you and Khun Tharn meet?" Tine asked, taking a sip of his lemonade. Type grinned, shaking his head, "Not nearly as gentle and romantic as how you met Sarawat."
Tine laughed, waiting for his older cousin to continue.
"He was with someone at that time, and I was also his student at the university. So that was already a difficult situation. And since I'm human, I couldn't tell we were mates at that time. I only knew I found him attractive. Tharn hid it from me, too."
Type began to look sad as he recalled the memories.
"He would rather be together with his werewolf boyfriend at the time than be with his real human mate. And it's understandable. Besides, I've always been a loner, a reject; always keeping to myself and only ever speaking to Techno - my friend, the one who saved me when my parents tried to... kill...the whole family.
"But then I got attacked one day by a group of human-hunters, and Tharn saved me. After that incident, he began to pay more attention to me. And I thought it was because he was just worried I would get attacked again. It allowed us to get to know each other and grow closer, though.
"Before I knew it, I had completely fallen for him. I hated it. I hated having feelings for him because he was with someone else, and I had believed that person was his mate.
"But I tripped one day, and he caught me. The moment we touched, I felt sparks. Specific sparks only felt between contacts between a werewolf and their mate. I was beyond furious. I began to ignore him like crazy after that. Which was quite difficult as he was also my professor for one of my courses.
"Eventually we made up and he informed me he had long broken it off with his boyfriend - since before the day I got attacked. But I still had to put him through hell for keeping the fact that we were mates a secret."
Tine looked at Type in admiration. He didn't think he'd be able to keep smiling after surviving through such events.
"But that's enough about my life," Type grinned, as though whatever he talked about was not a big deal. "I believe your parents wanted to meet me, right?"
Tine nodded excitedly, happy Type was willing to give them a chance to properly talk.
