Chapter 8 - Old Friends

Thanks for 100+ reads! Because of that, I'm posting/updating two chapters today! I'm also trying to post chapter 1 of a new story or two! Thanks, enjoy!
Amelia POV

It was the next day and everything was normal. Blink, Boots, and I had finished selling papes and so we went to Newsie square and I jumped up and stole Morris' hat again.

"Got it!" I yelled, running.

"Not again! Amelia!" Morris yells, running after me, leaving Jack, Race, Oscar, Blink, Boots, Finch, and Crutchie laughing.

"25 cents froms each of ya" Race says still laughing, while he holds his hand out, palm up.

"Fines" Finch, Blink, and Boots say, handing him the money.

"Danks" Race says, collecting his money. Meanwhile, I had run into someone, running from Morris who stopped behind me. I fell down onto the ground.

"Amelia! Morris!" Oscar shouts. I look up at who I had bumped into.

Oscar comes running over to us and Morris picks me up while I'm in shock. Jack and the others also come over, worried by our expressions, but confused.

"Take her somewhere safe. Now!" Morris says handing me to Finch and Race as I'm still in shock.

"Aww.. are you not happy to see us?" One of the boys say, I can't tell who it is, I'm still in shock. I start crying as bad memories come flooding back.

Race POV

Morris hands us Amelia and we hold her. She starts crying and we don't what is happening.

"Go! Now!" Oscar shouts, and we take Amelia and go, Blink and Boots following us. Jack and Crutchie stayed behind to help Oscar and Morris.

We get to the lodgin' house and put Amelia on a bed; she looks shaken up and scared.

"Finch, Mush, Buttons, and Elmer come with me" I say leaving Amelia with the others.

Blink POV

Amelia is sitting on the bed in silence. She zones out, sometimes snapping back into reality only to zone out again. She's crying, too.

"What happened?" Specs asks.

"She was running from Morris, when she bumped inta someone, Oscar ran over 'nd Morris grabbed Amelia 'nd told us ta bring her back fast, dey looked worried" I say.

"Yeh, worried 'nd angry" Boots says.

"I wonda who dey saws" Sniper says.

"We can only wonda until dey gets back or Amelia tells us" Tommy says.

"Is she okays?" Henry asks, "She looks scared 'nd anxious 'nd she's cryin'."

"I don't know" I say, looking at Amelia, who is still crying and zoned out.

A few minutes later Oscar, Morris, and the others come back. When they come in Morris runs to Amelia to comfort her, while Oscar explains.

"That was Jets and Ace. They also work at the refuge, except they enjoy watching kids suffering. Amelia is zoned out and crying because the memories come flooding back to her anytime that she sees them. Let's just say that if we didn't beat up kids, they would use her as our weakness. Them and their stupid team who rule Harlem" Oscar explains, "Morris is just gonna check up on her to see if she'll be okay, she's probably having flashbacks, they are cruel".

A chorus of "sorry's" and "oh no's" fill the air.

"She'll probably be fine" Oscar says.

"Dat's sad" Finch says.

"Dis is why we haves buddy systems, now dey're mandatory" Jack starts, "Nobody leaves witout a buddy or more."

"Especially now dat dey're back" Blink says.

"Amelia definitely can't leave alone" Oscar says.

"Everybody go ta bed, wese all needs ta be well rested" Jack says and everyone walks to bed.
