Two days have passed since I moved in. It was as if a giant weight has been lifted off my shoulder. I was finally free of Jake. I missed him like crazy though. It's crazy how he made me feel even after the way he treated me. I felt so lonely yet so liberated. I kept listening to sad songs to dig me into a deeper hole. Every song was another foot down deeper. I thought to myself, "When will I reach the end?"

I snapped out of my depressed mood when I looked up at the clock that read 12:09 PM.

Fuck. I had work in 51 minutes.

I got up from my bed and walked into the bathroom with my phone in my hand, my feet caressing the cool tiles. I slid my shower curtain to the side and stepped into the shower. Through my phone speakers, Is There Somebody Who Can Watch You by The 1975 started playing. I placed my phone on the counter next to my sink and cranked the shower to warm. The initial cold water made me shiver, but the water gradually became warmer.

SHOWER TIMESKIP

I grabbed my white towel from the hook and wrapped it around my damp body. I stepped out of the shower and onto the bath mat. Walking over to my vanity, I grabbed my hairbrush and started brushing through my tangled up hair.

Once I got through my hair, I start blowdrying my HC hair. I finished about 20 minutes later and looked at the clock. I placed my hairdryer on the counter and made my way to my dresser. I picked out a black bra, a mesh overshirt with a moon & sun design, black ripped mom jeans, a large black studded belt, and my maroon docs. I slipped on my attire and looked in the mirror. I decided it wouldn't hurt to put on a necklace, so I put on a gold necklace with an angel holding his face in the palm of his hand.

I walk into the kitchen and grab my keys off the counter and walk out the door. I make my way to my blue 2016 Volkswagon Jetta and unlock my doors, open them, and hop into the car. I start my car and turn up my music. I back out of the driveway while blasting FA out the window. I feel the breeze make its way through my hair and blow it all over the place. It was a beautiful day out. 75 degrees and not a cloud in the sky; the sun stretching her infinite light and beauty upon everything in my eye's view.

Not even 5 minutes later, I pull up to my place of employment. Brad's Record Barn. Despite the name, it wasn't exactly a barn. It was an old car garage renovated into a record store. It wasn't only home to records, but they also sold CDs, guitars, ukeleles, and other small instruments and accessories.

I parked in the closest free spot to the door and got out of my car. Walking in, I say hi to Alex who was managing the cash register. He was who I would be working with today. I walked into the back room and set my stuff down and put on my nametag. Today I was working in recovery which meant I just had to clean up after customers and make sure no one's stealing... should be easy enough.

I got right to work, organizing all of the records first. Immediately I noticed that someone put $uicideboy$ in the religious music section. Hi, what? That's probably the last place they belong in. I picked up the record and moved it to its appropriate spot under rap/metal. As I was doing that, I heard the door chime go off. Looking up, I see a sort goth girl walk in. She had shoulder-length black hair with bangs. She was wearing a black dress that frilled out at the bottom, and on her collar, there were safety pins. She also had on fishnets and combat boots.

"Wow," I thought to myself, "she looks pretty cool."

I definitely want to talk to her before she leaves. You walk over to the alternative section where she seemed to be looking around. You approached her and asked, "Do you need any help looking for anything specific?" She looked up at me, kinda spooked because she didn't see me coming.

"Oh, well since you're here, I was looking for a new album or artist I could cry myself to sleep too." Somewhat shocked but also feeling what she said, I responded by saying, "That would be my specialty. How do you feel about Lorde?"

"Never really heard a lot of her music," the girl replied. I looked and her wide-eyed.

"You need a little Lorde in your life girl, come here." I led her over to where Lorde's records were. I recommended Melodrama because that is a classic album that I cry to.

[AN: i wish i were kidding]

The goth girl thanked me, "Thank you..." she looks at your nametag "... YN" I responded with, "You're welcome..."

"Lydia."

"You're welcome Lydia," I said with a warm smile.

Lydia and I ended up talking a bit more. I explained to her how I just recently moved to town. We ended up exchanging numbers and made plans for next Friday! I was so glad I made a new friend!
