That weekend they met in the ROR to talk about what they were going to do. They agreed that once the group got started they would meet in the ROR the next day to teach their Slytherin friends.

"So, you'll bring Blaise, Theo, Astoria, and Pansy," Hermione asked as they were leaving.

"Yes, 'Mione, I will tell them the plan and bring them when you give me the go-ahead," Draco sighed before heading towards his common room.

"I'm confused. Why do you want Pansy and Astoria to come?" George said.

"They helped me when Ron and Harry would bully me in my first year. They also helped Ginny and Luna adjust to people's constant bullying. They also were our support system when you guys were not around. Do you think you could try to get along with them?" Hermione explains.

"I think we can if they did that for you guys," Neville says, the others nodding in agreement.

"Sorry to interrupt, but the terrible two are heading this way," Seamus said suddenly appearing.

The group split up at those words. Fred and George went to the side of the hallway to 'talk pranks', among other things. Neville and Hannah ducked into a different hallway to get away from the scene to avoid suspicion. Ginny and Luna headed the opposite direction towards the library to get started on their essay for Snape. Hermione just continued walking watching the twins call Seamus over to talk about how to get their fireworks to work as soon as they saw Harry and Ron.

"Hey, Hermione, where have you been?" Ron asked as soon as they saw her.

"I was just finishing up in the library and then Ginny stopped me on the way to the Great Hall to talk about the new teacher everyone hates," She replied easily.

"What did she say?" Harry asked.

"That she hopes she quits before Christmas but doesn't see that happening. She also said we aren't going to learn any useful in her class and that she is worse than Lockhart," She said thinking back to the actual discussion they had about that particular teacher.

"That sounds harsh even for Ginny," Harry said.

"She is telling the truth. We overheard that whole conversation," the twins say before walking away dragging Hermione with them muttering about 'needing to know more about muggle pranks'.

Hermione finally convinced Harry to teach others to fight evil the week before their first Hogsmeade weekend. Neville had to pretend to be scared about the fact that his birth mother was out of Azkaban the morning before their meeting. That weekend they met the people who wanted in at Hog's Head. Hermione told Draco to be ready to tell the others once she gave the go-ahead. They had an excellent turnout and a total of 30 people signed up. The 'leaders' agreed on the name of Dumbledore's Army.

"Where will we meet to teach them?" Harry asked.

"We will figure it out," Ginny said calmly.

Later that night the United 8 met in the ROR.

"Where will we have them meet?" Neville asks.

"What about here?" Draco suggests.

"If we introduce it right, they won't be suspicious of us," Fred said.

"But what about our meetings?" Ginny asks.

"We will still meet with each other, but we will meet in the Shrieking Shack," Hermione said.

"Okay, how will you introduce them to the ROR?" Hannah asks.

"How about in 2 weeks we have Neville 'stumble upon it'," George said.

"Then he can get us and 'show us' where it is," Ginny added on to the growing idea.

"We will figure out when lessons start from there," Hermione agrees.

Within 3 weeks they were having their first lesson with Harry. Neville had to pretend to be bad at DADA, even though he was one of the best. When they met with their Slytherin friends that weekend they were trying to figure out how to notify everyone when the next meeting would be without seeming suspicious.

"What about having a coin or something that looks real but isn't?" Draco suggests when he walks in.

"That could work I just have to figure out how to get it to work," Hermione said.

"I think I know the perfect spell, but first let's teach them what was taught," George says.

"I think I know what spell your thinking about, I'll show Hermione tonight," Fred comments.

They spent a couple of hours perfecting the spells that were taught, making sure everyone could cast them with little to no mistakes. They spent another hour goofing around and finishing homework (if they hadn't already).

When they decided to leave they left in groups. The Slytherins first to leave, making sure there was some distance between them and everyone else. Hannah, Neville, and Luna left 20 minutes later, quickly heading for the library. Hermione and Ginny left 10 minutes later heading to the Great Hall for lunch having the twins catch up when they leave the room 5 minutes after them.

When they got to the Great Hall, with Fred hanging off of Hermione and George doing the same to Ginny, the rest of their group was either just walking in or sitting down already. The 'terrible two' were already stuffing their faces at the table by the time they got there.

"Where were you earlier? We couldn't find you and we even checked the library," Ron exclaims, shuddering as he said the word 'library'.

"I spent the day with your siblings trying to figure out how to give the others the date and time of DA meetings without passing notes or whispering," Hermione calmly said as she sat down, pushing Fred over to Seamus.

"Have you figured anything out?" Harry asked.

"I have an idea, but I need to see if there are any spells on it and figure out how to do it if there are."

"We were bouncing around ideas for hours," George 'complained'.

"It wasn't that bad, she helped to explain some muggle magic tricks," Fred said excitedly.

"True, some of those are ingenious. What was the one with fingers?" Ginny piped up.

"The Chinese finger trap? Those are simple if you know how to escape," Hermione joked.

Dean and Harry tried to help Hermione explain some of the tricks. They spent the rest of their lunch talking muggle magic tricks letting anyone join in.
