Finding My Mate

Chapter 2

Catherine's POV

I could feel the gust of wind brushing against my stone cold skin. Running at vampire speed was one of the many things I liked to do. I stopped at the edge of the forest and stuck up my nose into the air. Breathing heavily I caught a scent of a very juicy and sweet Grizzly Bear, my favourite. I ran to where the scent was leading me, stopping at a mere 100 feet to where the bear was. The bear was really huge and looked very strong, but that was not a problem for me since I could snap the bears neck in two. I rushed up behind the bear without its notice and just like I had predicted the bear was dead on the ground with a snapped neck in just a few nanoseconds. Lowering myself to the ground I sank my teeth into the bears neck and sucked on the sickly sweet blood.

After sucking up the blood until the bear was out dry I began to dig, then buried the bear into the ground so that humans could not find out about me being here. I rushed back to my house to put on some new clothes since my old ones got very bloody. I guess I got a little too overexcited from drinking the bear.I quickly got a shower and changed into dark blue skinny jeans with a white singlet top and brown leather jacket. I also wore some black 4 inch heel boots and accessories.

Contemplating on what to do next I thought I would go out to have a walk and observe the humans. I know what you are thinking. Observing the humans is like stalking them, right? Well no, I am not stalking them I just like to know what the humans do these days so I can blend in easily since my brain is "old-fashioned" and thinks like a "grandma". Walking down the sidewalk I saw a couple who looked like they were in love so much that they would die for each other. Listening into their conversation with my super vampire ears, I found out that the women was pregnant. I felt like crying but no matter how much I tried I could not since vampires can not cry. I once use to have my own dreams of finding my love and having kids with him while we grew old and saw our grandchildren playing in the yard but no! I just had to be turned into a vampire. Don't get me wrong I love being a vampire but sometimes I wish that I was human.

Having a boyfriend was yet another problem. You see, vampires have mates which they are destined with and cannot live with out. Of course, I am still waiting for my mate to find me or me to find him. I hope that day comes soon. If I wanted to I could have a boyfriend but once I find my mate I didn't want to hurt him so I just stayed single.

I had not even noticed that I wasn't paying attention to where I was going until someone had bumped into me. I looked up to see a guy with brown hair that was swept to the side and brown eyes. He was wearing a hoodie over himself like he was trying to hide. Trying to hold in a gasp I took a step back. His skin was glowing and he had white thread floating all around him. Like his aura or something. It only lasted for about 5 seconds before he turned back to normal. I was able to see it because of my vampire speed. Then I realized who he was. He was my mate, and he was human.
