The silence in the room lasted for just ten seconds, and the people started murmuring amongst themselves again.

Pamela lowered her head and followed her dad to sit at the front row. Cody sat by her and looked around to see if anyone would try something. Last year, a kid from her mom's side threw a little ball made of iron at Pamela. No doubt it was his mom who told him to, knowing full well Mr Anderson couldn't punish the kid.

The invited Priest cleared his throat and everyone focused on him, causing Pamela to let out the breathe she didn't know she was holding. If not for this occasional ceremony, Cody would never know Pamela could be this quite. The Priest went on and on about how today was the 9th death anniversary of Mrs Anderson and how great a person she was blah blah blah.

After thirty minutes of talking, he called Mr Anderson and Pamela to where Mrs Anderson's ashes were kept. Cody didn't know if he should follow or not. At the last minute, he decided to follow her. And it was a good decision because as they finished what they went to do and were coming back, someone decided to throw salt at Pamela. He was fast enough to intercept it. Really, you'd the people present here were strangers and not family.

In exactly an hours' time, the priest wrapped up the ceremony and left. Pamela and her dad as the hosts, were supposed to stand at the door and thank everyone who came. Pamela does not understand why her dad won't excuse her from that . And as usual, people acted. Some pretended as if they didn't see her outstretched hand.  Others whispered demoness before going on to shake her dad's hand.

"Well well well, it is isn't the little demoness" Diana saunters over. Before Mr Anderson could speak up, Pamela acted first.
"What do you want from me?" She said through gritted teeth. A soft gasp could be heard from anyone present. Since the incident happened nine years ago, this was the first time Pamela spoke back to someone who accused her.
"Oh, so you've grown your evil wings now. What do I want from you? I just want you to go up to the police and confess what you did. Since you're at the legal age now, you'd be sent to jail. If only you'd listened to me reported yourself earlier" she said with a sneer on her face.
"I did not kill my mother" Pamela said in a soft voice.
"Then who did? You were the only two at the scene. Who could have pushed your mom from that tower except you? Was it me then?"
"Maybe it was you. Because I lost my memory, so you could have been there earlier and nobody would know" Pamela fired back
" Why you evil little witch" Diana said and raised her hand to slap her.
Pamela closed her eyes and waited for the pain. But it never came. She opened her eyes to see Cody holding Diana's raised hand.

"What do you think you're doing? Let go of me. I see she brought you here to come and humiliate me" she said and struggled to release her wrist from his grasp but couldn't do so even after half a day.
" That's not it Ma'am. She's my charge. It's my responsibility to protect her from any sort of danger. If you could move back a little" with that said, Cody pushed her back using just a little bit of force causing her to almost fall down.
"You.."

"Now Diana, I know my wife was your sister and her death really hit you hard, but I won't tolerate you maltreating my daughter every time she comes to mourn her mother. From today, I ban you from coming to her death anniversary ceremony" Mr Anderson cut her short from whatever she wanted to say. Without waiting for her to talk, he called the guards to come show her the way out.

"Thanks dad" Pamela said and went to give her dad a hug. She turned to see Cody looking at her expectantly. Uhmm, what's his problem? She thought and walked past him to go inside.
What was he thinking? Of course she wouldn't thank him She pays him to protect her.  Cody thought to himself as he followed her inside.
"Will you be staying for the night?" Her dad asked
"No, I miss my bed already. Besides, I can't let Cody drive back for five hours just to drive back another five hours to pick me up" she said and Cody thought 'awwwn, she's looking out for him' . Only for her to open her mouth to tarnish his little happiness. "I need to meet Dave and that will make me late" Of course, her boyfriend was more important.

"Hey Pamela" They all turned to see that one guest was not gone. It was Diana's husband's first son. Nobody knows why he comes to the ceremony every year even though he wasn't directly related to the Anderson's. And nobody knew whether he also believed Pamela killed her mom or not. But he has always been kind towards her.

"Hi Peter " Pamela said back. Even know he's nice towards her, she feels kind of scared of him and she doesn't know why. And for some reason too Cody doesn't like him.
"How are you doing? Don't mind what my mom says. She doesn't mean them" You could see Yeah right written on all their faces. Even Peter himself.
"Okay, so maybe she means them but you shouldn't take it to heart. You may not remember what happened but in your heart, you know you didn't kill her."
"Thank you Peter" she said softly.  He made to hug her but she took a step back.
"I see you still have that thing where you can't hug guys huh. No offense taken. Have a safe trip back" He said and left. Cody turned to look at her in disbelief. She can't hug guys? He went through his memories to see if he'd remember seeing her hug any of her boyfriends. But of course, she did hug them. So what was Peter talking about?
"What are you looking at? Go and start the car" she said when she caught him staring at her.
