Cecilia on the side

"Happy 16th Birthday, Cecilia!" I smile brightly, probably the brightest I have ever smiled in my life. I was sitting on a long table with my mum at one end and my father at the other. I sat in the middle of the table lengthwise. The table was filled with sweets and cake. And the garden was decorated wonderfully.

"Thank you, Sonia," I said to the maid who placed a giant black and gold cake in the middle of the table. My eyes shone with anticipation at the sight of the cake and the promises of a full stomach. I turn my gaze to my mother then to my father. My smile falters slightly. They were staring at their phones and typing furiously, not looking up once to look at the cake or me.

"Hey mum, look the cakes here! It's so big and beautiful; I think Chef Max outdid himself this time!" I said enthusiastically.

"That's nice sweetie," Dad replied and I wasn't even talking to him. I huffed and leaned back crossing my hands over my chest in anger. It was they who wanted to do this whole birthday thing, not me. I looked over to Michael who was my manager but practically my father. He's been looking after me ever since I was born. He cares about me like any father should. Michael gives me a reassuring smile; I give a soft one back.

"So, anything interesting happen lately?" I asked with a forced smile. They both nod silently. "Are you guys even listening to me?"

Finally my mother lifts her head, "Oh darling the cakes here!" She exclaimed to my dad.

"Yes mum, it has been here for the past 5 minutes, you've just been too busy on your phone,"

"I'm sorry sweetie, but you know your dad and I have been really busy these past few days," ha, you guys are always busy, never once have you paid any attention to me! I wanted to say it but I couldn't bring myself to do so.

"And especially with a baby coming along..."

"What?" I shrieked. They were having a baby? Well, of course I mean with the mega baby bump and all, but what for? They wouldn't look after him or her, they'd probably just hand it over to Michael again and he's got enough on his plate with me and all. I was shaking with anger by now; I stand up and walk to Michael.

"Cecilia, give them a chance," Michael says, patting my shoulder. I give him a tight hug and shake my head.

"I've been giving, them chances over and over again for the past 16 years of my life, they don't care Mike; you know it just as much as I do." He sighs and walks forward to tell them that we were leaving when I heard a loud groan. I run back into the meadow and see my mother hunched down on the ground.

"Baby!" she screams and everything falls apart. Maids were running around like head less chickens and Dad was calling for an ambulance while Michael was trying to calm my mother down. I just stand there staring at the scene unfolding before me.

"Cecilia, come here! I need you to take your mother to the hospital, your father will drive!" Michael shouted from my mother's side. I nodded and rushed forward. I grabbed my mother's arm and we raced to the car as fast as we could. My father jumped into the driver's seat and raced down the road.

"What's the point?" I asked my mother who was panting.

"What?" she asked dazed.

"What's the point of having another baby, when you're only going to hand to over to someone else? Some other person to bring them up like you did with me?" Mum just glares at me.

"We didn't leave you! We trusted Michael, that's why we handed you over and plus your dad and I are... too busy to look after you!" she shouted between groans.

"Is that really? From the looks of it, work seems to be so much more important than me!" I shouted at her.

"Cecilia shut it!" Dad shouted from the front seat.

"No! I won't shut it! I was left alone and parent-less for 16 years, not once did you visit me for my birthday or my first day of school. Never did you once give me a call asking how I was! I grew up only knowing Michael as family! To me you're all strangers and I don't want that!" I shouted, tears rolling down my face. "I've never wanted that! I've only ever wanted my family!"

"I'm sorry so sweet heart; can we talk about this later?" My mother asked. I stared at her in shock. I shook my head I can't let another baby come into this life! I can't let it go through the pains I have grown through. I jumped forward into the passenger seat and grabbed the steering wheel, pushing my dad to the side of the car. I turned it until it was going straight for the side of the bridge. Before long we were over the side.

Time seemed to slow down; papers and wrappers were floating in the air. The Mars bar from this morning was stuck to the roof. I looked forward and saw the ground coming towards us, getting closer and closer until I felt a pair of arms around me and everything went black.
