as soon as gabbie woke up, she headed right to the beach hoping to see bella. she hadn't seen isabella in a day, so she really wanted to see her.
when she headed towards the spot where the trio normally hung out, neither of them were there, not even kay. gabbie shrugged, and continued to look around for one of them.
all of the sudden, she heard whimpering.
"maybe there's a lost puppy nearby!" gabbie mumbled to herself and began looking.
however, as gabbie continued to look, she found bella sitting by the shore. she was in a different spot than usual, and her head was buried in her royal blue sweatshirt. bella's scattered breaths from her sobs made her chest bounce.
"i still can't believe she's gone," bella mumbled to herself.
gabbie slowly walked toward her, "um, bella, are you okay?"
she could hear bella gasp, and she pulled her head out of her sweatshirt. she wiped her eyes dry, but kept her head down so gabbie wouldn't see how red and puffy they were.
"bella, what's wrong?" she asked, sitting in front of her.
"n-nothing," she stuttered, grabbing her phone and standing up to walk away.
"hey!" gabbie called out, stepping in front of her, "you were just crying and i heard you said i still can't believe shes gone. are you sure that nothing's wrong?"
"everything is fine, gabbie," bella declared, avoiding eye contact as she walked faster.
gabbie stepped in front of her again, "i'm not stopping until you tell me why you were just crying your eyes out."
"just leave me alone!" bella shouted at her, hitting her shoulder against gabbie's as she stormed out of the beach.
gabbie watched bella as she quickly left the beach, and couldn't help but wonder why bella was so upset in the first place.
