of twenty-twenty"she just left my message on read," kay sighed, showing gabbie gonzalez her phone.
"i know bella is quiet and all, but she always keeps her word," gabbie pointed out, "if she said she was going to be here tonight, then something happened which resulted to her not coming,"
"she could be in some big trouble," kay concluded, "i have to find her."
"i'm coming."
the two girls stood up from the tent, and ran to the beach's exit.
"bella!" kay called out.
as they continued to walk all over sarasota, they each called and texted bella. she never picked up, but read all of their messages.
"why isn't she replying to us?" gabbie groaned.
the girls kept looking left and right for bella, but they eventually found themselves as the second entrance to the beach. the gates were closed, but kay had a feeling bella was there. they each hopped over the fence, and headed right down to the shore.
"bella!" gabbie and kay shouted.
all they heard was silence, and kay felt a wave of disappointment. they were about to leave the beach, but they stopped in their steps when they heard something move in the sand. kay and gabbie walked toward where the sound was coming from, and as they got closer, they heard whimpering.
"bella?" kay whispered, while gabbie was enabling the flashlight on her phone.
they found bella, and she was hiding in the sunflowers. the light made her red and puffy eyes noticeable, and there were tears streaming down her eyes.
"oh my gosh, bella," kay gasped, immediately sitting down next to her - gabbie following not long after.
kay put the girl's head near her torso, and they sat with her in silence until her cries began to stop.
"wh-why are you g-guys he-here?" bella asked, her breath shaky.
"we came looking for you," kay remarked, "i noticed you never showed up at the sleepover, and i got concerned."
bella sat up from kay's hold, and rubbed her eyes one last time, "so.. y-you left your sleepover for me?"
kay nodded, "i left because i love you, bella."
"y-you lo-love me?" bella asked, her voice still shaky.
"of course she does," gabbie responded, "she loves all of her friends."
bella slightly smiled, and the three sat in silence for a few minutes. they were staring at the night sky, and bella placed her hand on top of kay's.
the strawberry blonde cleared her throat, "i have to tell you guys something."
"what?" gabbie asked.
"remember our deal a couple of days ago?" bella mentioned, earning a nod from both girls, "since i didn't show up to the beach sleepover, i'm going to tell you guys why i was crying."
"bella, you really don't have to," kay stated.
bella shook her head, "i have to kaykay. plus, it's related to why i was crying tonight."
"alright," kay agreed, "tell me what happened."
