"i really hope bella shows up," gabbie spoke up, looking at kay as they stood by the entrance of the beach.
"me too.." kay sighed, looking down.
"shall we go to the tent now?" gabbie suggested.
kay took a deep breath, "alright, let's go."
lainey, rachel, and sam set up a glow-in-the-dark tent earlier that morning, so as soon as kay and gabbie stepped into the sand, they saw the vibrant tent by the shore.
"it's so pretty!" kay gushed.
the two girls ran down to the tent and sat on the fluffy white pillows.
"oh my, the ocean sounds so beautiful from here," gabbie smiled.
kay wasn't as social as gabbie, so this was one of the few sleepovers she had ever attended outside of her own home.
"where's bella?" kay inquired.
"she said she was coming on her own," gabbie answered, looking through the snacks in the tent.
gabbie found multiple snacks she liked, and immediately put them all in her corner so kay or bella wouldn't steal them. kay only looked at the teen mom.
kay couldn't help but glance at the empty seat where bella was supposed to be sitting.
rachel and sam were up at the entrance of the beach and began to play music.

"i love this song!" gabbie remarked, and began dancing while kay shook her head and laughed.

an hour past, and kay's feet began to hurt from all the dancing, so she sat down on the fuzzy pillow. the seat next to her was still empty, and she wondered if bella would show up.
"hey, did you hear from bella?" kay asked, tapping gabbie on the shoulder.
the girl tilted her head, "wait, she hasn't texted you either?"
"no, she hasn't," kay replied, "i'm scared, gabbie. she said she'd be here."
