Chapter 10: 'Model Essence'

Chat Noir's POV:

I'm on my way to see Marinette and get my hint as to who Ladybug is. And I can't forget that I have to hint at my identity too. This time I'll have a better hint that is more thought out. I could tell her I play piano! Nah, that's to boring. Or maybe that I know Chinese? That should be good, not really hinting at who I am, it's the perfect level of vague. Based on how vague miladys hint is gonna be.

I arrived at Marinette's balcony and knock on the hatch. Almost immediately the hatch flys open and she pulls me into her room.

"What took you so long?! It's almost 1 in the morning!" She scolded.

Wow, I didn't think that it was that late! Plagg let me sleep way to damn long.

"1 in the morning?! Sorry princess I didn't check the time before leaving. Wait..." I said with a sly grin. "What are you doing up at 1 in the morning? Waiting for me? Kinda sounds like you missed me."

And with that her face visibly flushed red, and she turn away failing miserably at hiding the blush that steadily made its way to her ears.

"NO! I mean, no I was not waiting for you, I just couldn't sleep." She crossed her arms.

"Ready for your hint as to who Ladybug is?" She grinned.

"Ready as I'll ever be. This time I actually thought about my hint for you. Now, you go first." I said way to excitedly, I bet I look way to obsessed, like a creep.

"Okay, the hint she wanted to give you today, was..."

"Quit dragging this out! Don't you want to hear my hint too?" I whined

"she told me to tell you that she isn't actually thousands of years old."

I deadpan.

"Well no shit Sherlock, she couldn't be, if she was I probably would be to. Tell me the real hint." I face palm.

She chuckled at me. "Okay okay, she's an only child."

Welp, that sure helped with nothing.

"Very, very, very vague. Just like she said it would be. Damn. Anyways, here is my hint. Unlike someone I know I'm gonna just go right on out with it. I know Chinese."

Suddenly a spark of recognition was in her eyes and she stared at me skeptically.

"That's funny, Adrien knows Chinese." She put her hands to her chin.

I started to yank at the collar of my suit. Did the temperature in here just rise 30 degrees or is it just me?

"Oh really, he does?" I spoke looking at everything but her eyes. If this wasn't a dead give away then, I don't know what is.

"Eh, small world. Though, for a hot second there you looked kinda worried! I wonder why that is? Hmm? What are you Adrien or something?! Because I don't see the resemblance. You just don't seem to have the 'model essence.'"

I raised my hand to my heart in fake hurt. "Meow-ch princess, you don't think I could be a model?!"

The irony was way to sweet, though it's a good thing I got out of that awkward conversation that I am not yet ready for.

"Nah, not with that messy hair at least!" She ruffled my hair.

Every time she touches me I get this electric shock and my heart starts to flutter. That usually only happens when Ladybug touches me. I hate how she can effect me this way.

"I will admit, the hair is a bit messier than I would like. But whenever I put the suit on it does it itself!" I chuckled. I glance at the clock.

"Well princess, I better get going before you go to school tired tomorrow." I said reluctantly.

She turned to see the clock.

"Oh god it's early, it's almost 2! You better get going before someone notices you're gone!" She said with what felt like a twinge of worry.

"It's okay, no one would notice if I was gone anyways." I didn't want to make her feel bad, but I do know that Marinette gives great hugs, and tonight I want one.

"Don't be ridiculous! Of course someone would notice! I sure as hell would notice if someone with as big a presence as you were missing!" Marinette's face started to turn red out of anger. Once she realized, she took a deep breath and continued talking.

"Chat, there is no doubt in my mind that your family cares for you. And even if you still feel that no one does, remember that I do." She spoke with the most sincerity that I think I'd ever heard.

And then, lucky for me, she pulled me into a huge hug. Everybody was right. Marinette had a hug that would rival my own mother's. After a healthy amount of time she pulled away. I'm gonna have to get her to hug me more often.

"Well, I guess I have to be going." I sighed contently.

"I guess you do. Next time don't come here so late. Now I'm definitely going to be late to school tomorrow!" She giggled.

I stood up and made my way to her balcony.

"See you tomorrow princess." She let me gently kiss her hand, and then I was off into the night.

Marinette's POV

I can't believe I actually stayed up until 1 in the morning, waiting for Chat! It's a good thing I don't think he thinks I did. Because if I think he thinks I did, I think that I'd start thinking about jumping off my balcony.

"Ugh, this lack of sleep is getting to me!" I plopped down on my bed and pulled up the covers.

"Goodnight Tikki." I whispered softly.

~le skip to school~

I can't believe I made it! I mean of course I'm sleep deprived by 5 hours instead of the usual 3, but still! 2 minutes late has got to be a record! For me at least.

As I walked into the class I saw Adrien's bright smile, but for some reason all I could think of was the stupid alley cat who was slowly working his way into my heart.

Hello people! I have returned from the underworld to give you this new chapter! I hope you like it. Sorry this is so late. My iPad got taken away and now the birth giver has claimed it as her own 😡😤. Now I have to write on my phone. It is not an easy task. ALSO IMPORTANT! ‼️‼️‼️ Being the wishy washy single pringle that I am I've decided to change their ages. I know I know, probably should did that at the beginning, BUT nevertheless I've made their age a wee bit higher. They are 16 now. Sorry.
