"Aw come on, Lis... don't be such a sore loser." Chaeyoung popped another peanut in her mouth.
"I'm not being a sore loser. I'm just bored. We've been playing for an hour." Lisa held her aching head.
"And you've been losing for the last four rounds." Irene refilled the empty glass and set it in front of Lisa. "Stopping now means you are a sore loser."
Lisa groaned. "My head hurts. Can we just play something else or just talk like normal friends?" She looked around the table.
"Let's vote then," Chaeyoung said. "Who's in favor of continuing the game?"
Four hands shot up.
"The people have spoken." Chaeyoung shuffled the deck of cards in her hands.
"You could just choose 'dare' or answer the question, you know," Jisoo reached for the chips. "Instead of going for the drink."
"I agree. Why can't you just tell us the truth?" Seulgi absentmindedly twirled the glass in her hand. "It's not like we're asking for you to reveal your darkest most intimate secrets."
Irene nodded. "We all basically know your answer anyway."
"Then why do you ask?"
"We need confirmation," Jisoo said.
Lisa sighed and leaned back in her chair – arms crossed in defense. "Not gonna happen."
"You do know that you're an honest drunk with a loose tongue?" Chaeyoung dealt the cards. "Might as well answer now. That way you could at least decide which information you're willing to share and save whatever's left of your dignity."
"For once, I agree with the bottomless pit," Seulgi said.
"And I'll ignore what you just called me since you're agreeing with me." Chaeyoung threw the last card at Seulgi harshly. The latter caught the sliding piece of paper with a grin.
"Okay then. Ready?" The tallest looked around the table. Everyone but the sulking Lisa nodded.
"One, two, three!"
The four turned their pair of cards over. They looked at each other's cards before Irene tapped Lisa's cards. "Turn them over."
"Sigh..." Lisa did as she was told.
Two seconds passed in silence before Irene clapped her hands and shouted, "HA! You lose again!" She laughed.
The rest cheered.
"What?! No way! Let me see your cards." Lisa took Irene's cards and added the numbers on them. "Aish..." She slammed them on the table. The rest of the girls showed her their cards and grinned.
"Face it, Lis. It's just not your night." Seulgi sipped her drink. "Truth or dare?"
"Remember your poor head, Lis. Dare might be safer." Jisoo reached out for more chips.
"Or just give us a straight answer." Chaeyoung was already collecting the cards, ready to shuffle them for one more round.
Lisa kept sulking.
"Come on, Lis, we don't have all night."
"Then let's just stop playing."
"Not gonna happen." Irene's tone was stern. "Truth or dare?"
Lisa groaned. "Truth."
The rest of the girls glanced at each other.
"I guess it's my turn again." Seulgi put her glass down and paused. "For the fifth time, Manoban Lisa. When you 'accidentally' told Jen that you love her that night," she made air quotes with her fingers. "Was that more than just as your best friend?"
