You sat alone at the table. A lot of your men hadn't survived the night. The feast felt bitter. Perhaps it was your anger at Jon or maybe it was something else. Deciding you had had enough you rose to your feet. Your people who were enjoying the feast rose to their own feet and followed you as you left. Pausing at Sansa's place at the table you made a quiet excuse. She inclined her head, allowing you to leave.
"Let her go." Sansa said to Jon who rushed to his feet. He glanced at her and frowned. "This is your fault. Allow her to leave." Sansa hissed quietly. He ignored her, guilt hurrying his feet forwards. He wanted to set things right. His heart wouldn't allow him to have peace until he'd set things right.
"(Y/N)." Jon called after you. He excused himself and followed you out into the halls. You ignored him as you walked, your people surrounding their queen as you left the halls of Winterfell and fled into the woods.
The next morning you emerged with your people, waiting outside for the provisions Sansa promised you for fighting with them.
"We need to talk!" Jon called as he approached you. Dismissing the people around you, you turned to look at him.
"We have nothing to talk about. Your sister has released me from any bonds to your family." you answered curtly. He sighed and glanced towards the gates of Winterfell where a few wagons were being loaded up for you.
"I am sorry." He said simply and you let out a sharp laugh.
"You are sorry. Well that just fixes everything."
"I regret what I did, the position it puts you in." He said as you started to walk away. You sighed and took a deep breath when Daenerys spotted Jon. She smiled as she rushed over and wrapped her arms around his. She greeted him softly with a doting smile on her face.
"You must be (Y/N). I am sorry for the loss of your people." She said and smiled at you. "I have heard tales of you and your powers. You are the queen mother of wolves. Lord Tyrion has told me of the gifts your people have, to be able to turn into direwolves." She looked at you as if she was enthralled for a moment.
Your powers were one of the reasons that you were brought to Winterfell, Sansa wanted to bring back the deal your ancestors had with hers. In times of hardship your people were welcomed into the walls of Winterfell and you would offer support. Your shifters had protected the people in the crypts the best they could and Sansa kept her word, giving what little she could spare and promising in the height of winter, shelter for the civilians in your woodland kingdom.
"Thank you, your grace." You said to Daenerys. You had tried to not let your anger at Jon spill over but you couldn't. You doubted Jon would have brought up your betrothal. He seemed to brood in his shame over it and the only other person who seemed to know was Sansa.
Her smile fell at your cold tone and she glanced at Jon who sighed. "You must be good friends to the Starks, to come to their aid and ride under their banners?"
"We were close. I was betrothed to Jon before he traveled to Dragonstone. Lady Sansa was kind enough to release my people from our oaths to house Stark. If you will excuse me, your grace."
It was somewhat satisfying to see the look of shock and guilt rush over Daenerys' face. It was clear that she had no idea Jon had been betrothed before meeting her. He looked guilty as he watched you walk away.
"You were betrothed?" Daenerys asked him and he sighed.
"I was." he didn't have anything else to say and she shook her head.
"I heard stories of her people growing up. The wolf people who could shift into wolves. She is the only person in the world that understands old magic. Tyrion suggested that I ask them for an alliance." Daenerys said quickly. She gave Jon a sideways glance, seeing him staring after you.
"I'm sorry?" Jon said reluctantly.
"You should not be apologising to me." Daenerys said quickly as she turned to leave him.
Jon sighed and nodded. She wasn't wrong. He rushed over to where you were loading up wagons and talking with Sansa. "(Y/N)."
Sansa glanced his way, squeezing your arm as she went to speak to your advisors. "What is it?"
"I truely, am sorry. I did not want to hurt you."
"I know that Jon Snow."
"You are so angry?" He asked as if he didn't understand.
"Yes. You betrayed my heart, your Sisters work for an alliance. The alliance that might have been between the wolf folk and the dragon queen will no longer be. We would have had a king and the protection of the Northerners. The southern wolves are still considering siding with Cersei. I am grateful that you are sorry Jon Snow. But it does not fix what you have broken." You touched his cheek for a moment before walking away to your horse.
"I will still keep my word. I will come and fight for you if you shall need me too." He called after you. Smiling, you turned back to him.
"I hope that you can. You are not an oathbreaker Jon Snow. Not at your heart." You pulled on the reigns of your horse and led the way for the carts. Jon watched you vanish into the woods and stayed until the last cart was out of sight.
