December event

The cold had set in late at night. The group had decided to settle in and hope that the morning was warmer. Though as you prepared your horse the next morning you could feel that it was colder still.

"Shouldn't be too far to Winterfell. Someone went ahead last night to send word that we were close. They should be prepared for us when we arrive." Jon said as your horse kept pace with his towards the front of the group.
"Good. It looks as though it will rain. The cold and mud will not fare well for us even if we are close." you said as you looked up. Jon nodded as he pushed his horse on. The decision to not stop for lunch was met with a large round of complaints but being closer still to the final destination and the pressing threat of bad weather had them agreeing all the same.

The sudden onslaught of snow, however, made you regret the decision to not stop and find shelter when you could.

A soft fling of snow had started. As a few massive flakes fell they soon became a flurry. Then before any decisions could be made about stopping or pressing on a wind-whipped around so harshly it pulled your cloak from you and carried it up into the air where it vanished into the grey sky. Soon you couldn't see your horse's muzzle and when you looked for Jon he was nothing more than a dark smudge against a grey and white background though he was beside you. When your horse reared becoming alarmed Jon reached for your reins and led you to the side. Up a slight hill, there were several trees that the two of you sheltered under. The travelling party you were with had not completely vanished.

"What should we do?" You asked. Jon frowned as he looked over the blurry landscape. The ground was quick with snow and soon the grass underfoot vanished into soft white tufts.

"Here! Look. There's an old barn. Looks fallen down and it has some roof missing. But it will at least keep the wind from us." Jon said. You looked behind you and found that the barn he was talking about was just the other side of the trees. Leading the horses in with you, the two of you stopped for a moment.

"This must have been an old storage shed for the farmers to put Winterfell's cut of the food in. Must have been abandoned for years." You said. There was a small sheltered area that still had a good portion of the roof and the two of you huddled there, drawing the horses in close.

"We shall have to hope that the travelling party finds their way. I thought they would follow us up and there shall be no use in us going out there now." Jon muttered as he shivered a little. He glanced at you and unfastened his cloak from around his shoulders. "You look cold. Here, share my cloak."

The two of you sat close together under the cloak for a moment, trying to decide what to do.

"Men will be sent out from Winterfell to look for the group. I am certain of it. With this snowstorm going on. They're in a large group and are only a few hours away. We, on the other hand, certainly wouldn't make our way alone. We should make a fire. Find as much wood as we can before the snow seeps into it." You muttered. Jon agreed as you both got up. The horses were left in the barn and the two of you looked around for wood. While looking you both managed to find a forage for items, with what you both had on your horse's packs you'd be able to eat for a few days if needed. Hurrying back you managed to start the fire, setting some more wood you found to one side to dry. The two of you huddled together and waited out the snowstorm. By the time morning came the sky was clear but the snow was so deep that the two of you headed towards Winterfell on foot while leading the horses. You were greeted by the sight of your travelling party arguing about whether or not they should go back to look for you both.
