"Warren, wake up! Please wake up!"
I was woken out of a horrible nightmare with Cassidy shaking me awake. As I sat up I glanced at her lit phone screen that said it was 2:35 a.m
I glanced around rat my surroundings, checking to see if this was another dream. Once I realized I was awake looked straight at her, and then gave her a tight hug. Holding her close to my chest, I closed my eyes. We both started to cry. I held her so close to me, taking in the calming citrus scent from her hair while my breath and heart-rate now slowed down. "I'm so sorry I scared you." I said quietly. I felt the tenseness of my shoulder go away. She grasped me a little tighter. "It's okay, it's all over now" she whispered into my chest, "It's all over now" She said it as if I was an infant, and for some reason, that worked. Knowing that what happened was only a dream and not reality made me feel like I just lifted a heavy weight off of my shoulders.
We separated from our hug and now were holding each others hands. We stared at each other in silence for about a minute, the sobbing now slowing down to small sniffles. "What was it about?" Cassidy asked, breaking the silence. "It started in the place where we first made eye contact, the battle of Apocalypse. The scenery was exactly the same, except, it was only you, me , and Apocalypse that were there. The nightmare started with Apocalypse laughing while he held you by the neck. It was hard for you to breath. It hurt me to see you like that. He said that the only way I could ever see you again was if I came back to work with him. I refused. He then got mad and ran away with you, taking you with him. He took you away from me I tried to fly to catch up to him as fast as I could but It didn't work. He took you away." With that more tears started to run down my face. She grasped my hand a little tighter, and wiped the tears from my cheeks with her cold, soft fingers while I looked down at my fingers. We then looked at each other again, her face now looking more hopeful. Her soft cloud-like hands were now cupping my cheeks. "The most important thing now is that that was only a dream and it wasn't reality. Apocalypse is gone, we defeated him. He never took us away from one another. If it makes you feel better, he only brought us closer. I am right here in front of you." She gave me one of her genuine sweet smiles I couldn't resist smiling back to. I once more felt the familiar feeling of my wings opening and closing. I blushed slightly, luckily, with the dim light, she couldn't tell.
"Angel, you mean the world to me. I have never had anyone be as nice to me before as you were to me at the warehouse. You gave me a home with people who have unique powers like me, when I was the only mutant in my town growing up and I felt all alone, You gave me freedom from my horrible parents and the torture of cage-fighting when I thought that that would be my life forever, just a cold killing machine that has to fight to survive. You don't know how thankful I am. You saw the good in me, or at least, what was left of it, when the others thought I was a threat and that I was dangerous. Like I was more of a thing than mutant, You make me feel that there are people out there who look beyond my wings and care about me ." My tears turned into sniffles that turned into dried up tears on my cheeks. I had the biggest smile on my face, looking at her straight in the eyes. " You have no idea how beautiful that sounded." She said. We then hugged each other for a good few minutes. After that we were both yawning. "Let's try to go back to sleep" I said with a smile. She didn't say anything and simply got under the covers and them immediately started snoring. I chuckled and shook my head in her silliness then proceeded to take off my shirt (It was a hot night) and get under the covers. Zoe was my angel and wings, and nobody else's. Nothing else mattered to me more than her. I wrapped my arms around her very softly, as to not disturb her, and shifted into a comfortable position. "Good night Angel" I said quietly. I wasn't sure if it was the fact that I was super tired and I might have hearing things but I swore I heard her say "Goodnight love"
