The Last Hope

Chapter 7

       When Mia entered the café, she spotted Noah sitting on the far end booth drinking coffee, he looked inconspicuous. Mia laughed a little, as she approached him she couldn't help but smile.

"What, why are you laughing?" Noah looked at her confused with the straw still in his lips, which made him look cuter.

"Nothing you just look normal, I never thought I would see you in a place like this and that you would look like a regular."

"Thanks I guess, why did we meet here instead of in the safe house?" Mia almost couldn't hide the disappointment in her face when he changed the topic, seeing him there made her feel like they were on a date. He brought her to reality...

"Well... I had to change locations. In the last location I kind off opened the door to Hell, which ultimately gave our location away." Mia tried to her hide face under her hands knowing he would start scolding her.

Noah's eyes went wide, "you did what now, why, just why?" He tried to hide his anger, but Mia could feel it emanating from him.

"Well the good news is that I used it to find Sofia." Mia smiled trying to ease his anger.

"Mia, there is no way Sofia survived that day. After I saw her save Dylan she disappeared, why would she wait five years to see you? This has trap written all over it, and you fell for it." Mia's smile disappeared.

"No, I did not don't start treating me like a kid because I'm not. First, I would like you to know that I was the one who took her out of Hell. I read her powers it's her, plus you don't get it, but I would know if she was dead, trust me we would all know."

        Noah looked at her annoyed, "Mia they have their ways of tricking you, they are very good at it. And who knows it might just even be a creation made by your desperate attempt to have someone with you." Noah knew he had said the wrong thing when he saw Mia's face go from slightly annoyed to enraged.

       Mia couldn't believe her ears, to think she thought he would understand. Mia stood up and stormed off knowing that if she had stayed, she would end up giving them away by killing him. When she reached the end of the sidewalk Noah caught up to her, as he tried to grab her, she avoided his hands.

"Mia come on that was just a guess, I'm sorry I went too far."

"TOO FAR? TOO FAR? YOU'RE SORRY, THAT'S ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY SERIOUSLY?" As she screamed, she combed her hair angrily, when she threw her hands out a sudden gust of wind knocked down Noah and everyone behind him.

        Mia walked off without noticing her damage, she turned left to an alley that she would use to discreetly teleport. There where four men waiting for her, they attacked her without warning. The first one came at her with a dagger, she dodged him and as she took his dagger stabbed him pushing him to the floor. The second threw a fireball to distract her before he attacked her covered in fire. She barely managed to dodge the fireball before he came at her.

"Ok, this is ridiculous, stay there fire boy," she pushed the guy covered in fire up against the wall suspending him there with blood-bending magic.

With two down the third one sent a poison arrow at her making sure he was far from her reach, instead of dodging it she caught it with telekinesis sending it back to him, hitting him straight through the heart. The fourth guy started throwing fireballs randomly hoping one would reach her, before she could stop them Noah appeared throwing one of his own, much more powerful, fireball at him. The man caught flames and disintegrated.

"Seriously Mia, you could've died."

"Wait after all this you are still treating me like a kid. Noah, I took down three guys before you got here." She pointed at the two on the floor and the last one still suspended on the opposite wall. "Look I know you've always been my guardian, but it's been five years, I know how to protect myself perfectly."

Noah sighed, "I know you can, and I'm sorry for treating you like that. But do remember you are still in danger and... what the hell did you do to that guy over there?" He pointed at the one on the wall in disbelief.

"I water-bended his blood and now I'm holding him up before I kill him."

"What? Since when can you blood bend? And kill him Mia you've never been a killer."

"Like I said I can protect myself perfectly, Sofia taught me that a few years back, she can literally control the blood inside of someone. But she taught me the next best thing controlling the water molecules inside of the blood using my water-bending. I've also changed a lot after loosing everyone, there's no way I would be able to fight back without getting blood on my hands so please get over it and lets go... Sofia is still waiting for us."

Not knowing what to say Noah only managed to nod and take her hand as she teleported them to the new location. When he opened his eyes, he was standing in the middle of the living room.

"Sofia, come out Noah's here." Mia quickly let go of his hand as Sofia walked in.

Noah lost all train of thought, he recognized her immediately. Her caramelized skin, wavy light brown hair and the indistinguishable lilac eyes.
