Chapter 14

"Okay, let me start off by explaining a few things. First, Major is another part of Jasper. He came to be after Jasper was turned because some bad things happened. I'm not explaining what happened, just know that Major is more protective and a bit more temperamental. Please do not make him angry, that might cause his PTSD to make him lash out. Bella, you don't need to be afraid of him, just keep any unnecessary comments to yourself. If you have questions about anything other than Jasper's past, quietly ask them to the family. Oh and speaking of you guys, please stop acting like Major is going to hurt someone! He is just another part of Jasper. Neither of them would ever intentionally hurt any of us."

After I get done saying that, I turn to the wolves. "Sorry I ran off like that. My frozen age causes me to be a little dramatic sometimes. I usually have a better control on that. I'm a little stressed because of the threat against my family and new sister." I look over my shoulder at Bella while I say that last bit and smile at her. I turn back to Paul, choosing my words very carefully. "I know I'm definitely not what you pictured as your soulmate, and I'm sorry about that. I do want to get to know you though. If you're not comfortable with that, I completely understand."

Paul whines and runs off. Well, now I know how he felt earlier. I can't believe my teenage emotions ruined my chance with my soulmate! I clench my jaw and start to walk back to Major, but rustling leaves stop me. A guy comes out from behind the pack. He looks about 19, maybe 20, and is VERY attractive. I can tell this man is Paul. I smile at him, happy he didn't leave. The big black wolf huffs at him, but Paul pays him no mind. He reaches me and smiles, tucking his hands into his pockets. We stand there for a minute, finding comfort in being this close to each other.

"Hi. I figured it'd be better to actually be able to talk to each other." I smile and chuckle a little bit. "Yeah, I'd rather not have Eddie read your mind. I also don't feel right reading people's minds when I can turn off that ability." He laughs and smiles at me. For a moment, I'm completely distracted by the beauty of both actions, but his voice brings me back to reality. "Yeah, thanks for that." We both smile at each other again before the black wolf huffs at him again. "Sam, Maddie is my imprint. That means that I don't have to listen to you right this second. We have a 48 hour grace period after we find them and tell them. She already knows, so that means my grace period starts now."

"Grace period? What does that mean?" Paul looks over at me, smiling like crazy. "I don't have to go on patrol or anything for 48 hours. The imprint bond is very complicated. If any wolf leaves their imprint for very long during the first 48 hours both people know, they and their imprint start having a pain in their chest. After 48 hours it gets easier, but it will still hurt if you go more than 3 days without seeing them. Okay that makes sense. I nod my head so he knows I understand. "Okay, well hold on just a second. I need to finish calming Major down so Jasper can come back. It's honestly ridiculous, but it's what has to happen for everyone to act normal again."

Sorry it's short. I've broken my arm, got a job, and started college in the span of 2 months. Also I graduated high school. 2020 is going GREAT.
