Chapter 17

It's been two weeks since I and Caiden walked into the office together.

In the beginning, there were curious stares, and strange whispers whenever they saw me. There have been rumours going around that I was sleeping with Caiden.

But Caiden came into the office only three times or so in the whole two weeks and eventually that got the others to stop talking about us. Even the rumours stopped. I don't know if it's because they got bored or because of Caiden. Either way, I felt happy that it all stopped.

Now I am in my cabin preparing for the budget meeting when the door to my office open and Cameron barged in like he owned the place. Well, technically he did. But hey, what if I was not dressed properly?

"Yes, come in please" I commented.

"Don't sass me babe" he replied as he plopped down in the chair in front of me.

"Cam? Why don't you ever knock?" I whined.

"What if I was naked?" I asked him.

He suddenly put his elbows on the table and his face between his hands and looked like a child who was treated with his favourite candy.

"Man, that would be the best day of my life!" He exclaimed.

"Which day?" I head my boyfriend's voice.

Just then Caiden walked in. The door was already opened so he probably heard what Cam said.

"Nothing" Cam was quick to answer.

I looked at him questioningly to which he gave me a pleading look and I knew that it was my only chance to get revenge.

"Yeah nothing," I said, Cam's smirked at me "It's just he said that it will be the best day of his life when he sees me naked"

Now it was my turn to be smug.

I smiled sweetly at him to which he returned it with a murderous glare.

Caiden smacked the back of his head.

I chuckled at their behaviour. Whoever thought that they had a funny to side to them.

"I can't imagine that day. Man, it's going to be a golden memory" Cam teased.

"Like hell, you will. I will gauge your eyes out. In fact, I'll put a hole in your brain if you dare think about it" Caiden was furious, and pulled Cam by his collar to his feet and pushed him to the wall beside choking him.

I sprang to my feet and tried to pull them apart. Cam was gasping for breath trying to catch his breath.

"Caiden stop" I try pulling him but he wouldn't budge.

"You're going to kill him" my eyes started to tear up.

I didn't expect this reaction. I was just trying to poke fun at Cam. Oh God, if only I knew I wouldn't have made this joke.

"Like hell, he will" Cam taunted Caiden making him add more pressure.

Cam tried to fight Caiden but he had the upper hand.

"I swear to God Caiden if you don't let go of him this instant, I'm walking away from here and don't you dare bother following me. I am not going to talk to you and yes, you can't come to my apartment" I threatened him.

"You wouldn't" Caiden answered, loosening his hold on Cam.

"Hell yes. I will. If you don't listen to me" I demanded.

In that instant, Caiden went still. He looked back at me, I kept my face straight to let him know that I would go through I said. Cam took that moment to release himself from Caiden's hold. He walked to my seat and sat down, coughing vigorously.
