A new poem up for your eyes,

Fatal Attraction
We stand on opposite sides facing each other.
Neither one of us moves,
And it’s not because we don’t want to.
I can feel the electricity pulsing from the space between us.
Like little lightning bolts,
The attraction that we have bounces from one another.
I don’t know why.
I don’t know how.
Because we live in opposite worlds.
I am stuck in a place where there are forked roads,
Everywhere I turn.
And when I look in the mirror each day,
I can slowly see me,
Fighting to find her place in the world.
To find a purpose,
To find meaning,
To find a way to use my talents.
I am lost,
I am searching for independence,
I am broken into many pieces,
Still trying to find and fit them together.
You.
You are at a place where there are two ways
One in front and one in back.
When you look in the mirror,
I bet you see yourself staring back,
Almost crystal clear.
You know your purpose,
You know what you want to mean to this world,
You know your talents and the best way to maximize them,
And use them to the best of your ability.
You are no longer lost,
You have found the light at the end of the tunnel.
You have independence,
And you know it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
Yet.
Here we are.
Fighting an attraction,
That I can no longer ignore,
Or hide.
It’s there.
And only grows stronger the more we eat up the distance.
But there are blocks
More potent than our growth in this world.
There are heavy blocks
That are attached to your legs,
That are attached to my heart,
Preventing this connection.
It’s fatal, this attraction of ours.
And I slowly place bricks in the middle of us.
Some are not sturdy and strong as they should be
And fall.
But the more distance put between us,
The more the bricks stay put.
One day it will be complete.
A wall that neither of us will be able to break down.
