Summer Love Part Two :)

Holmes Chapel holds a special place in your heart, as does the boy who used to live there. As you walk the streets of his old hometown, the letter he wrote nestled in your coat pocket, you smile. You take it all in, noticing the small details he told you about in the cabin by the lake. The bakery where he used to work. The crack in the pavement by the post-office where he tripped, resulting in the scar on his knee. Even the place by the river where he had his first kiss.

You lay down your blanket by that very river, taking out the scones you had bought from the bakery. Harry had once told you they were the best scones on the planet, he was right. It's been three years since you found the letter, three years since you started wondering what happened to the green-eyed boy.

Leaning back, you close your eyes and tuck your arms behind your head. The wind whispers through the tree branches and for just a moment, it sounds like Harry calling your name. It's not like you've developed feelings for Harry since you found the letter, but you often find yourself wondering what the two of you could have been. Under the Holmes Chapel sky, you watch puffy clouds pass with a smile. Soon enough, you're drifting off to sleep with the winter sun warming your face...

---

You wake to the sound of shrill laughter, stretching slightly as you sit up. A little girl is splashing in the river, her faded yellow-spotted rubber boots squelching. You smile as you watch her, recalling the time Harry told you a silly story about putting worms in his sisters' yellow-spotted boots when they were kids. Everything seemed to come back to him.

"Daddy! Daddy! Look!" The girl squealed, plucking a particularly smooth rock off the riverbank.

"Oh, that's beautiful darling," a man says, walking over to the little girl. "Do you want me to show you how to skip it?" The girl nods excitedly, her beautiful blonde curls bouncing. Something about the mans voice pricks up your ears, almost like you've heard it before. And then, with the force of a tonne of bricks, you realise you have heard that voice before. For a moment, you're not sure what to do or say, but while you're busy fretting, the man turns and there he is.

Harry. His hair is shorter and shaggier than when you last saw him, but those eyes... The green, like the promise of spring, is still the same. At first, you're afraid he doesn't recognise you, but then he smiles. The same cheeky grin from all those summers ago. He grabs his daughter by the hand and walks towards you.

"Harry," you practically gasp. He opens his arms for you instantly and pulls you into a hug.

"Long time, no see," he chuckles into your hair. "How are you?"

---

You spend the rest of the day catching up. He introduces you to his daughter, Eloise, and tells you about his wife, Isabel. Seeing him so happy and comfortable with who he is is enough to make you smile. The two of you splash with little Eloise in the river, skipping stones and laughing. When the sun is beginning to set and you're ready to go back to your hotel for the night, Harry hands you a slip of paper with his number on it.

"If you're staying in town for the next few days, let me know. We can hang out, I want you to meet Isabel."

You nod, waving goodbye to him and his daughter. As you turn around, Harry calls out one more thing.

"Oh! And we should probably drop in at the shops, I believe I still owe you a bikini."
