"Really , Macey? Dancing, in the field, at 9 PM?" Asa is laughing so hard his face is red.

This is about the fourth time Asa mentioned my dancing during the first hour of school and I am positive that I am going to murder him. I am not even that bad of a dancer. Okay, fine. Maybe I am a horrible dancer, but I'm a horrible dancer who is very capable of beating this boy to pulp if he doesn't shut up.

"First of all, it's Chase. Second, how the hell do you know what I was doing yesterday?" We're walking to Comp sci and we're beginning to get weird looks from people in the hall because Asa won't shut up.

"The agency gives me access to all the security cameras in this city." He still hasn't stopped laughing.

"Wait, what the hell?" I stop walking and face him.

"Relax, the only security cameras located where you're living are outside your house, so that I can warn you if someone tries to break in." There's an idiotic smile plastered to his face, as always.

"There's another one other than the one facing the field, right?" I shoot before resuming my walk towards comp sci.

"How'd you know?"

"I'm trained and you're really obvious."

"The other one's in the kitchen."

"I know, I saw it when I was making a sandwich."

"Then why'd you ask?" He's confused.

"Just so that I can convince you that I can tell when people are hiding something." I shrug.

"Wait, so you can't actually tell?" We're right outside class.

"I'm going to just let you figure out if I can or not on your own." I step inside class and greet my teacher.

After a few antagonizing classes which consisted of Asa never failing to remind me that he's smarter than I am, we make it to lunch. I greet several of my classmates on the way, and I can't help but notice the queen bee of the school, the jock and their followers.

Just like every school this school had a hierarchy. I never really fit into any of the groups, because I never made friends and people only knew me because of my badass behavior and leather jacket. It's not like they need to know me anyway, high school is just a cover. I will never know if I fit into the nerd group or the mean girls group, because I spent all of my teenage years protecting these nerds and mean girls.

"Are you kidding me? You've literally been here for three days and you already have a bigger social presence than me." Asa lets out a frustrated groan after I wave to the sixth person I recognized at the cafeteria. I knew Asa just wanted to throw a fit for no reason, because though he isn't popular he had a good circle of friends who he talked to and many girls try flirting with him.

"That's because you don't try to make friends." I roll my eyes, I've been doing that a lot when I'm around Asa.

"No one wants to be friends with me." Asa shrugs.

"Not true." I retort. "Literally three girls tried talking to you yesterday." I take another bite of the disgusting burger I'm eating.

"They just ask me to do their homework, and I have no interest in doing that."

The girls who approached him were all good students and seemed genuinely interested in talking to him, so his excuse was entirely invalid.

"None one of those girls were trying to get you to do their homework Asa. You just hate socializing." I smile.

"Either that, or they'll try flirting with me, and I know that I'm irresistible but I'm also very busy. I don't have time for that."

"Asa, calling yourself irresistible is an insult to all the good looking people out there." I snort.

"Did you just snort? Anyway, I know I'm not the best looking kid out there." He laughs. "My brains make do for it."

"Just shut up and eat Asa." And he did.

The rest of the classes pass by in a blur, I just try to get on the good side of all my teachers because I know that I'll be missing school often and I don't need them on my back. A few hours later I finally climb into my truck and it's like my head automatically feels lighter that Asa and his non-stop excitement aren't here.

I pick dad up from the headquarters and cook him dinner while he works.

It became a routine for us, he's always so involved in his work that he often forgets to feed himself. He told me that there's absolutely no need for me to cook when I was fourteen and learning how to make lasagna from a YouTube video online. I responded saying that I wanted to, and that I love cooking, even though I was only really learning to cook because I was tired of eating out everyday. Dad tried to cook that evening and he almost set the kitchen aflame, and since then we had a silent agreement that I was always in charge of the food.

I settle down with my books after dinner. Studying bought some sort of simplicity to my life, and it made me feel like maybe there was a life past the agency.  I always loved logic and math, along with English and Science. I loved debating and speaking. I loved voicing my opinions. I loved having opinions. I do have opinions now as well, but they're opinions about things those don't matter to me. I will never have time to enjoy a book or join a debate club, because as much as I like to feel like I'm normal. I am not normal, and I'll never be normal.

It's funny that whenever I think about being normal, life slaps me in the face.

"Chase! Code 12!" I hear my dad yell out. He probably got the notification from Asa. I let the trained side of me kick into action and I'm on my feet and running down the stairs in seconds.

So, since I decided to double update today I will treat myself to chocolate as soon as the corona virus dies down. AHAHAHAH who am I kidding, this virus might not die down forever, BUT we must remain in good spirits. As usual, the song attached above has no relation to the chapter but I love the song and I wanted to share it. I have a feeling you all are going to like the next chapter, it's where you finally see Macey's agent side in full fledged action. Adios until then, PEACE OUT.
