We start walking to my truck, joking about Lara from chem's bright green scrunchies. I really like this boy. Wait no, scratch that. I don't like him, I'm a spy. I don't like guys. That should be my new mantra."Where is he?" I pull out from the parking lot. "and where should I drop you?"
"Why would you drop me anywhere?" He turns to look at me.
"Because this is a serious case dealing with one of the most wanted criminals in the country. Though you might be a senior tech, you have zero training when it comes to dealing with situations like this. Let's respect each other's capabilities, don't be difficult and tell me where I should drop you off." My eyes are on the road, but I can literally feel Asa staring at me with that little pout of his.
"But I really wanted to see you in action, I bet you'd look 10 times hotter and I'm not completely defenseless. I did some taekwondo when I was 11 during summer camp."
"I'm trained in 7 different types of martial arts, I have psychological training to deal with these situations and I'm pretty sure Christian is too. Besides, I can't be worried about you the whole time instead of focusing on the mission." I tried to act like I didn't hear him just say that I was hot.
"Whatever show off. Just drop me off at the headquarters."
"Show off?! You were the one rubbing it in my face that I suck at coding and physics like ten minutes ago." I keep one hand on the steering wheel and the other one is flailing around, mirroring my frustration.
Asa lets out a laugh. "Okay, just drop me off and get your beautiful self in action."
Here we go again. What is it with these compliments? Do I compliment him back, is that how I show him that I like him? No, I shouldn't even be liking him in the first place.
"We're here, get out and connect to the blue-tooth in 120 seconds." I stop the truck to a halt.
"First of all, don't seem so happy to kick me out of your truck. Second, there's no way I'm going to make it to the seventh floor and to my cabin in two minutes even with the elevator."
"Well, I'm really excited to drag Christain's sorry ass down to custody and elevators are really slow. The whole point is that you should run up the stairs. You have to get some exercise done anyway." I explain as if it's totally normal to run up 7 flights of stairs in 120 seconds.
He jumps out of the truck and starts running towards the building disguised as a software company." I chuckle at his retreating figure and begin driving towards the exit. He rings me earlier than I expected, and I push my Bluetooth onto my ear.
"Well, that was quick." I chuckle, even though it took him five minutes rather than two.
"I-I do work ou-out." He's panting heavily. "How else so you think I have abs?"
"You do like 5 minutes of cardio a day and run like a quarter mile while listening to lectures about ancient history. The only reason you have abs is cause you're skinny and genetically blessed." I chuckle, he and I both knew that he has a steady work out routine but I love messing with him.
"How do you even know I have abs?" I can hear him grinning.
Umm I stalked you on Instagram and my jaw dropped at the sight of you dorkily but adorably attempting to take a shirtless selfie?
"I'm just going to take your word for it." I mentally curse myself for the blush creeping my neck.
"He's outside Mr. Kowalski's house again. It can't be a coincidence; he definitely wants something from Mr. Kowalski.
"I'll pull into Maple street in like 3 minutes, tell me if he tries to break in and run Mr. Kowalski's details." I tighten my grip on the steering wheel and blow a piece of hair out of my face.
"He doesn't seem to show any signs of breaking in. I'm running Kowalski's details." I can hear him typing furiously. "Kowalski is an ex-Airforce official, 13 years of duty. He stopped serving because of a bullet in the knee, he faced problems with it for years and finally got surgery with his pension 23 years after retiring."
"I'm getting off the truck, I'll be in foot for the rest of the mission. Christian probably already picked up signs that he was being followed from last time. He's expecting me. We're going to have to be really fast."
"How do you know he might have picked up signs?"
"He's smart, he knows that the place he chose to meet his little friend is very obvious, but he took the chance. Most probably because the person he met feels threatened by him. He knows he was being watched because he didn't proceed with what he would've done if he wasn't being watched. The person with him and he drove off in two different directions."
I pick up my pace and pull my gun out of my back pocket. "He is back because he wants to confirm his suspicions; I bet his friend isn't here this time. I don't think he has anything to do with Mr. Kowalski. Even from Christian's past records we can see he loves risk. He loves asking for trouble and he can never get anything done without being sure he isn't being tracked." Christian comes into vision and I hide behind a red colored house two houses to the right on Mr. Kowalski's.
"Damn, okay. He seems to be standing in plain sight, he's just standing there." Asa sounds confused but I know what's happening. This is why we're forced into hours of training, to cover every possibility existing, and to prepare ourselves for possibilities those we can't cover.
"He's waiting for me, he wants to know if he's being followed for sure and he wants to know if it's really the government following him." My voice sounds grave and my heart's beating fast.
"This is bad, how can he know about UC?" Asa sounds just as grave and I can tell he's never had to deal with the scenario of someone finding about UC, the highest and most secretive crime investigation and prevention agency in the world. We shouldn't ever have to deal with that situation.
"He doesn't know about UC, he knows that someone is following him and he's pretty sure that that someone isn't the government." I spot him within the distance of 15 meters, I take cover. "Located, advancing,"
"Don't advance, if he knows that someone is following and has a hunch that that someone isn't the government the best option is to retreat. We can't leave any clues, we can't let him figure out about UC. He works for the biggest gang in Southern America, if any sensitive information leaks the company will be in deep shit." I can hear Asa typing furiously, undoubtedly trying to find the locations of any other threats in a radius of 6 miles.
"I don't have an option but to advance, I can't let him go. He's smart but not that smart, he probably thinks its members of another gang following him. He can't pick up on the world's most secretive company, with just a hunch that someone's following him. I need to get him into custody, he's an armed threat and there are many defenseless people in this area." I start advancing.
"Careful."
Irun, hunched down. I don't try to be quiet, I just try not to be visible. Lethim be confused, let him be alert, let him be surprised. I run around Mr.kowalski's house, my gun clutched tightly against my chest. I soon allow myselfto be seen, there's no point in hiding now and I'm pretty sure he's expectingan attack on the back. I am anything but predictable. He spots me and fix myposture. My first goal is to confuse, then assassinate.
Hey lovelies,
I'm not in a good place right now. I know that everyone is struggling, considering what's happening around the world. I know that it's hard, trust me I do. Macey and Asa are like one of my only escapes right now. I'm struggling with myself, I'm struggling with being normal, with being happy.
Attached above is a song that means a lot to me right now, go ahead and check it out.
I'll catch you guys at the next update. Till then, peace out.
