We walked further into the town, and I looked around, scouring the far end of the building with Andy and Ben. "All clear, let's regroup." Andy called, pointing back to the other end of the street, where the team had stopped moving.
"Claire." I sped up as I heard the words leave Chris' mouth.
"Wait...are you Chris?" Came a female voice, one I knew.
"My sisters told me all about you." I pushed through the group, finally seeing her come into view.
"Sherry!" She looked at me, and the two of us moved close, going into a tight hug.
"What're you doing here?" I asked.
"Protective detail. What about you? Did you talk to Leon?"
"He let me come." I cut her off, nervously glancing back at Chris.
"I though you said he wasn't at ho.." Sherry tried to continue but I pulled the pistol from my belt, giving her a pleading look.
"I've got the gun, haven't I?"
"Chris, that man is a wanted insurgent." Piers spoke up.
"I thought that's Captain to you, Scope," I mocked, referring to when I joined the team, earning a small glare in return.
"Yes, he's a mercenary. But right now he's under the protection of the U.S government. He's no threat to the BSAA." Sherry explained.
"Unless someone pays me to be," the man spoke up.
"What did you just say?" Piers stepped forward, but Chris held an arm to stop him.
All eyes landed on the guy, until he stepped forward from the car he leant in, "what?"
"Nothing." Chris replied, lowering his arm once again.
"So, you're Piers, huh?" Sherry looked at him and I gave her a warning glare.
"You've heard of me?" Piers raised an eyebrow, smirking at the words.
"More than you know." Sherry nodded.
"Sherry, now is not the time to inflate his ego." I spoke up.
"No, go on, I want to know what's been said, all good things I hope." Piers continued to smile, whilst I just hid myself as best I could behind Chris.
"Not always, but..."
"HQ to Alpha Team. Reinforcements are unable to land due to anti-aircraft artillery. Take 'em out."
"Alpha Team, copy." Chris responded.
"What the...we're picking up a large bogey on radar. It's heading right for you!"
We all looked up, seeing a chopper carrying another one of the large B.O.Ws, dropping it directly beside us. "Oh, for fuck's sake!" I complained, moving in front of Sherry at the ready to fight.
"A friend of yours?" The man asked.
"More like a friend of a friend," I replied, causing him to smirk.
"We'll talk later. Right now, you need to find cover," Chris cut in, joining me at Sherry's side. The thing let out a loud roar and we began to back off slightly. "Alpha Team, This is Echo. Those three anti-aircraft turrets are holding us at bay."
