Goodbye Past

The wind combs my hair, like my mother's fingers when she calmed me to sleep as a child. I look out across the planes of grass towards the normally brown and green mountains that are now coated in a thick layer of white snow. Miles away winter is in full swing. The wind brings with it the scent of roses to the south, I close my eyes and imagine the events in my life that led me to this point.

The crash, the funeral, running away and being found, and now moving. Moving was one of the hardest choices I have had to make, I didn't want to be in that mourning town. So here I am Miles from my home in the mountains looking back at who I was with sadness clouding my brain, smelling the roses, feeling the wind, and as I turn back towards my soon to be home I allow myself to think of the girl that started it all.

The girl with the long blond hair and blue eyes, the girl with the most amazing smile. My beautiful wife, my beautiful Dead wife. I look at the flowers in my new garden, Tulips, her favourite. A tear slips from my eye.

A girls cry draws me back inside. My blond little girl runs into my arms,

" I really miss her dad, I want Mum back." I pull her in closer to me.

" I know sweetheart, I do too."
