Darkness overwhelms me; I hear my deep terrified breaths. I creep slowly along the narrow hallway; the stale scent of the rotting floorboards smears my lungs. Dim light fills the room through a tinted window. I see the darkened walls filled with shadows ready to swallow me; my pace quickens. Rushing down the stairs I hear the boards giving way under my feet. I see the old broken door coming closer; beginning to run now I speed up to the front door. I burst outside; my heart fills with relief and pride. A thought pops into my head, 'Why was I in there anyway?'
