Hunter's Orders

Angelica woke up to a knock on her door. Her eyes widened as she went downstairs & tried to peek out her nearest window. Hunters!

Angelica POV

I was nervous wondering how they'd found me! I tossed on my green cloak as I placed my pistol in my holster & slowly opened the door.
Two men appeared on the step dressed with red ski masks & gray trench coats with huge black compound bows.

Hunter 1: sorry to bother you ma'am. We want to know if you've seen a Judge around here. An injured Judge?

I thought to myself knowing that the note had been delivered to Jacob most likely & they had come looking for who wrote it.
I thought about shutting the door on them but that wouldn't be smart so I decided to be honest & respectful with them.

Me: yes I have. I saw an injured Judge over by that hill so I decided to help it. But I did release it.

Hunter 2: did you perhaps pin a note to it?
Me: yes...yes I did.

Hunter 1: that's all we needed to know. Have a good day.

I shut my door as the 2 hunters walked away from my cabin. Great. Now they know where I live & I could be discovered by Jacob Seed. Then he'd put me through his trials like everyone else. I removed my cloak & hung it on the coat rack as I sat on the couch & read a hunting magazine for a few minutes when another knock on my door came. I rose up & put on my green cloak tucking my braid in.
I opened the door to find a note laying on the ground. I looked around & saw no one. I knew somebody was watching me nearby & I had a good idea of who it was but I focused on the note.

We usually just kill them. But he seemed fine so I'll spare the bullets.

I looked up at the hill top & then over towards the trees & the stream.
"I know you're out there." I said strongly seeing if anyone would respond. I didn't expect a response I just wanted to get my message sent.
"I'm not afraid of you." I said again not expecting a response.

I heard gunshots in the distance like usual but that was it. I turned & walked back inside closing the door & removing my cloak placing the note on the table.

Jacobs POV

I decided it was only fair to reply back to the note but I could care less. I never thought it would be the girl in green but apparently it was. The same girl I was interested in was helping my Judge. I hid over the hill listening to her shouting out as if I'm gonna respond to her. I thought about it for a second & opened my mouth but nothing came out. Just because she said she wasn't afraid doesn't mean she would remain that way when I came out. The scars all over my arms, blood all over my jacket, dirt all over my shirt, gun powder all over my pants. What would make her attracted to me in any way. If she wasn't afraid, she'd be disgusted for sure. I waited for her to walk back inside when I walked back to my truck cursing to myself for being an idiot before climbing inside & driving to the Veterans Center.
When I got there, my hunters waited for me to walk up to them before nodding at me with the usual respect.
"Sir do you want us to capture or kill the girl?" One of them asked me.
I definitely didn't want to kill her because that would possibly be the biggest mistake I could make, however capturing her wouldn't be such a bad thing. But I don't think she'd like it much. Who cares anyways? I don't care what she thinks. She's nothing just an ordinary person.
"Capture. Bring her here. Don't hurt her." I demanded as they drove off.

Narrator

The truth was Jacob loved the girl. He was attracted to her but he pushed it to the back of his mind & said it was just a stupid phase or thought. He kept thinking he had to stick with his duties.
Meanwhile, Jacob's hunters were already sneaking up to the girls cabin with bliss arrows planning on capturing the poor girl.

Angelicas POV

I put on my cloak preparing to go out & hunt for some deer. I opened the door when I felt a sharp pain hit me in the leg! I looked down & an arrow stuck out of my leg! But not just any arrow. I felt leg give out as I fell holding my leg as my vision turned blood red & then everything went black.

~~~1 hour later~~~

I woke up to my head hurting & my leg was stinging from the arrow. I didn't exactly remember what happened but I knew that I was shot with an arrow. I pulled my green hood back up covering my face. I looked around me & I realized I was in a cage in front of a huge yellow building with lots of windows. I looked around seeing a bunch of other people in cages around me some crying, some sleeping, some dead, some begging for mercy, & some mumbling random stuff I couldn't make out. I heard talking from a cage down the aisle & saw a Cultist talking to this person in a cage. Saying things like "you can't kill us" "you're a traitor" "I won't kill you, time will".

Then I saw a shadow appear behind me & I turned to see Jacob Seed standing outside the cage. He kneeled down towards the bars & gripped them tight. I kept my head down covering my face more.
"You don't like showing yourself do you?" He said confused. I remained quiet.
"Don't worry. I'm not gonna hurt you." He said. I found it very hard to believe him. But I just had to go with what he said for now. It was all I could do.
