Confusion

I walked back inside the Veterans Center where Jacob was in his office as usual.

Me: Jacob...I finished my jobs for today. Is there anything else you want me to do?

Jacob: yes. I want you to go with my most trusted hunters. I've already talked to them & they know their rules. You will be going to John to pick up an escaped Whitetail Militia & bring him back here.

Me: ok... why don't you come? It is an escape after all...

Jacob: because I have to prepare someone for their trials.

Me: ok....

I walked outside where the two hunters were already standing there as I pulled my cloak hood up.

Hunter: you Angelica?

Me: yes...

Hunter: get in.

I climbed in as we drove off. After about 30 minutes of driving, we finally arrived at some kind of pumpkin farm. I stepped out of the car as the Hunters guided me to the terrified young girl huddled in the corner surrounded by John Seed's men. John was standing beside his truck when he noticed me & didn't hesitate to come up to me.

John: you're the girl Jacob told me about?

Me: yes...

John: what's your name?

Me: Angelica...

John: could you remove your hood?

Me: no...I can't. Sorry.

John: can't or won't?

Me: won't....

John: ok... this girl killed 2 of my men & was an escaped Whitetail Militia member. I'm sending her back to Jacob but she won't budge & she's terrified so I figured call Jacob & he sent you. He said you're good with talking to people apparently...

Me: I don't know about good but I'm ok... I'll do what I can.

I approached the young girl cowering in the corner of the house.
I got close enough to kneel down & could tell she was shaking & crying.

Me: hi...my name is Angelica...what's your name?

Kara: Kara...please don't hurt me...I'm only 15.

Me: it's ok...I won't hurt you. May I ask why you ran here?

Kara: Jacob's men killed my parents. They kidnapped me & gave me to this guy called The Cook. He was gonna burn me alive...

Me: you're gonna be ok. Come with me.

I slowly held my hand out as she hesitantly took it. I stood her up as I led her behind the hunters to the truck.

Kara: no! I can't go back!

Me: listen...I'll talk to Jacob. You just come with me.

Kara: ok...

I helped the girl into the truck as a hunter came behind me.
"I gotta tie her hands." He stated as I backed away.
I went to go see John before I left.

John: thank you.

Me: anytime.

John: may I ask what's your relationship with my brother Jacob?

Me: I'm his right hand woman.

John: hm...ok.

I turned to the truck climbing in as we drove back to the Veterans Center. Jacob was standing outside already with his key in his hand prepared to open a cage up.
I led the girl out & told her to stand right next to the truck as I attempted to talk to Jacob.

Jacob: this is it?

Me: yes...Jacob. I request permission to let her go.

Jacob: why the hell would I do that?

Me: because she's terrified & shes 15.

Jacob: which means she'll be strong enough to go through the trials.

Jacob approached the girl in tears as he grabbed her by her wrist.
"You think you can escape & kill two of my brothers men? Let's see how well you do in the trials." He said angrily as the girl begged for mercy. He dragged her to her cage as I nodded in acceptance towards the hunters & went inside the Veterans Center.

It was almost night & I hadn't eaten all day but honestly I was ok with it. I had a small breakfast & I've been plenty busy so no issues. I laid in my bed staring at the ceiling as Jacob came in the door.

Jacob: you hungry? All you've had today is breakfast.

Me: I'm fine. Thank you.

Jacob: if you're mad at me for refusing to let the girl go that's to bad because my job is to make soldiers. Not free the weak.

That made me a little angry but I just tried to remain calm.

Me: It's fine. I'm not mad. All is good. I understand it's your job.

Jacob: ok then...I'll be in my office.

He walked out closing the door as I heard screaming outside which wasn't abnormal but I was curious to see. I peaked out my window & saw the scared girl getting dragged out of her cage & beaten. I don't know what she did to deserve it but I couldn't do anything about it. I rolled over on my side in the bed as I fell asleep.
