He continued to sit next to my cage.
"Why do you hide your face?" He asked concerned but I still remained silent. He let out a heavy breath of frustration.
"Don't you have a voice?" He asked. I still didn't reply even though the urge was strong.
"I'll get your voice out. Until then. You'll stay here in this cage." He demanded as he turned & walked away.

I huddled into the corner of the cage facepalming myself as I started to cry until I fell asleep on the cold, hard ground.

Jacobs POV

I was such an idiot! To treat the poor girl like that! No that was basic orders I do the same thing to men, women, & children! No difference!

Angelicas POV

After falling asleep for 2 hours, I woke up starving & thirsty. I looked around realizing I was still in a cage. So it wasn't a bad dream after all. I heard the person in the cage next to me whispering "girl" at me. I turned & looked at the person. A weak, starved, & dehydrated man who looked like he was in his 20s.
"You might wanna start talking to Jacob. Before you end up like those people." He said pointing to the dead person in the cage across from him.
I turned back & laid back on the ground against the cage bars as I covered my face & just tried to think about good things.
I heard banging on the cage next to me. I sat up & looked at the Cultist still hiding my face. The Cultist dragged the man who spoke to me out of his cage as he shouted for help & tried to grip the bars but his grip was released & he was taken somewhere. After 10 minutes went by, another Cultist came by & threw another person into the cage. I looked up at the person who was a woman who was in her 30s it appeared. She had a bullet wound to her stomach & her shoulder. Then I heard Jacob come over to her. I laid on the ground pretending to be asleep as I overheard him talking to the new captive.

Jacob: you won't make it long with those ya know.
The Woman: I don't care! Shut up & let me out!
Jacob: or I could just end you right here. It'd put you out of your misery.
The Woman: go ahead!
Jacob: we'll see.

I heard him laugh as he walked towards my cage with a small metal bowl.
"You ready to talk yet?" He asked me. I still refused to say a word.
"If you say something...I'll give you some food." He said assuringly. I turned back towards the ground hiding my face more.
"Hm. Ok. I guess you wanna starve to death?" He asked me. I looked towards the bars he was standing by still hiding myself.
"Ya know...when you go a long time without food, your stomach starts to eat your muscles." He said to me. I'm not going to lie, that made me a little nervous. But I didn't care. I didn't want to say anything. I'm not a social person & I was too afraid.
"Well...I'll check on you tomorrow." As he walked away from the cage.

The night was even colder. I was having a hard time sleeping but I used my cloak as a blanket. Eventually, I fell asleep.

Jacobs POV

The girl just won't eat anything. Won't eat, won't speak, won't even show her face. Might as well put her through the trials. I pushed her attraction to the back of my mind & got back to work.

Narrator

As much as Jacob thought the girl was good-looking. He didn't let that distract him from his duties. He was a soldier & couldn't be weak cause of a girl. He pushed her away from his mind & in someway forgot about her. Until the next morning came & he had to choose between letting her sit in the cage longer or put her in the trials & see what she's capable of.

Angelicas POV

I woke up starving & really in need of water. I heard footsteps & saw Jacob come up to my cage again. He opened the door & grabbed my arm pulling me out of the cage forcefully. I let out a grunt as it wasn't the best way to wake up in the morning. Jacob dragged me to the center of the driveway & to the entrance gates as nearby Cultists watched but didn't dare question.
"Go on. Get outta here. But don't think I won't find you again. I know where you are. Don't try to run either." He ordered me as I looked down at the ground. I still had my face well hidden with the cloak as I stood up & looked at the tall soldier standing above me. I stood up & backed away slowly to see if he would change his mind.
"Hurry up! Before I change my mind!" He shouted. I turned & ran down the dirt road & through the gate before going into the forest & eventually getting back to my cabin.

I opened the door & walked in shutting it & locking it. I removed my cloak & hung it up before immediately running to my fridge & getting something to eat & some water. I had been starving & thirsty for nearly a day & a half. Then I went to my room & took a shower to freshen up.

Narrator

Jacob wasn't gonna let her go. He already had plans for her. But sometimes to show someone you care, you gotta let them go. Right?

Jacobs POV

I didn't want to put her through the trials just yet. So I decided to send her on her way. My hunters have orders to watch her & if necessary shoot to kill.
I'm sure I'll see her again soon though.

Narrator

A couple of days went by & Jacob still hadn't seen the girl but he had secretly been hanging around her cabin trying to see if she would come out at all & she didn't.
