A year

He didn't know why he was walking down the same street he had seen that girl a year ago. He could vaguely remember what she looked like since he didn't pay too much attention to her.

After he was finished drinking from the corpse, he disappeared and went somewhere far so no one could find him, not even that stupid girl.

He continued to walk on, not minding who saw or what they thought of him.

The girl clutched her jacket close, for fear of catching a cold. It was a chilly night and it called out to the world to wear one.

Tonight of all nights she couldn't sleep. It was a year ago that her good friend Ralph had died. It was unknown how he passed but she was there when it happened. They were walking casually down the street when all of a sudden, his stomach exploded. His insides came out in pieces.

She was scared out of her wits when it happened. Her legs gave out as she stared at the corpse in front of her. Moments later, a handsome man approached them with a hungry look in his eyes. He told her to leave and she did. She wasn't sure why she listened.

After she was a couple of blocks away, she wanted to know what he was planning to do to him. She ran back to see the man bent down with his head inside Ralph's stomach. It sickened her.  When his head came up, she could see his eyes. They were hazel-turquoise. She tried to say something but the words wouldn't come. She turned around and ran home, not wanting to see what else he would have done.

His hazel-turquoise eyes are stamped in her mind and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't erase them from her memory. After she calmed down, a realization hit her. He had fangs, almost like a vampire.

No! That can't be! They're just a myth, they don't exist!

The next day, she found out  on the news that Ralph's body was found with almost all of his blood drained out. She quickly threw out her blood stained clothes and went on living as if nothing had happened. Until today that is.

She was enjoying the crisp air when she suddenly bumped into someone. Her feet slid on the dew underneath her as she almost fell. A strong yet gentle hand, gripped her arm.

The person sighed. "How annoying. It's you again."

She looked up to see those hazel-turquoise eyes again. He helped her up to her feet as she looked at him, surprisingly. He just continued to stare at her with a blank expression.

This is great, he thought as he continued to look at her. She had the looks of a normal boring girl. Brown hair and eyes. Pale skin and normal height. Nothing stood out about her.

He looked at her once more, already knowing that he was planning on never seeing her again. He turned to walk away, knowing that silence was far better than words.

She continued to stare at him as he left. She couldn't believe that this handsome man was the same person from a year ago. When she got out of her trance, she ran up to him.

"Wait!"

He stopped and looked back at her. He still had that same dull look on his face that made her want to see him smile. She stopped in front of him and looked him square in the eye.

He seemed to get annoyed by this. "Look, I don't have time to be playing these foolish games. Say what you want and get it over with."

Anger flared up inside of her. "You have all the time in the world. You just want me gone, don't you?"

He clapped his hands slowly and said sarcastically, "No, really? What gave you that idea?"

He went around her and started to walk away. She began to walk beside him, glaring at him all the while.

"You're the one I meet a year ago, right? Why have you come back?"

He stopped dead in his tracks. He said under his breath, "Damn human brains and their memory." He scoffed as he looked at her. "Like I care."

Suddenly he ran away from her. She tried to run after him but he was too fast. Before her eyes, he seemed to disappear into the night. Running out of breath, she slowed down to find a bench nearby. Trying to calm her racing heart, she slouched down onto it.

She glared at the night sky, not knowing what to do. After she cooled down, she got up and headed home.
