He continued to run until he knew she was far enough away where she couldn't reach him. He wasn't sure why but her presence annoyed him to a point where he knew that if he didn't leave, he'd do something to her he'd regret.

He couldn't believe she remembered him. There wasn't anything distinctive that stood out, not even his hair. It was kind of wavy and and his skin was pale. He was tall but he knew there were others taller than him.

He started walking around an apartment complex. His original plans were ruined now that the girl has seen him.  As he neared a tree, he heard something rustle in the bushes. He stopped and listened to see what it was. Then it started whimpering.

He was puzzled as he neared the foliage. He began to move the branches away to see a hurting Labrador retriever. It was merely a pup as he reached out for it.

The puppy moved away, clearly afraid of him. So not to scare him, he left his hand out for the dog to smell. The puppy took a moment to sniff his fingers and once it felt comfortable enough, it began to nuzzle against his hand. He reached out for it and took it in his arms. He slowly got up, trying not to scare the animal.

He noticed a dog tag on it as he saw that the owner of the puppy didn't live too far. He walked toward the house and knocked on the door.

A big fat ugly man answered. He looked at him with distrust in his eyes. "What do you want?"

The dog began to whimper in fear at the sight of him. He answered as politely as he could. "I found your dog."

The fat man looked at his arms as a sneer escaped his lips. "Oh, that dog. It's been nothing but trouble. You can keep it."

Anger flared up in him as he used his free hand to put it on top of the ugly man's head. The man looked at him in frustration. He tried to push his hand away but wasn't able to.

He let his mind take control. He knew his eyes had glazed over, maybe even having a slight glow to them. Through his hand, he was searching for memories of the puppy as he slowly took them away from him. When he was done, he put his hand up in the air and disposed the memories into the sky.

The fat man looked at him, puzzled, and asked who he was.

"I was looking for someone but I'm at the wrong house. Sorry."

"Well, don't let it happen again."

The man closed the door in his face but he didn't mind. He was just glad to have the puppy in his arms. He walked away and noticed it had a lot of cuts. He took off the tag, already planning on giving him a new one. When the new day arrives, he'll take the puppy to the vet to see the severity of the injuries.

"Come on. Let's get out of here. I'll be your new owner now."

The dog howled, as if answering back. He smiled a real smile. He hadn't done that in a long time, it seemed strange at first but he couldn't contain his joy. He just kept on walking with the puppy sleeping in his arms.

"Cleo! Wake! Up!" Her friend yelled out at her as she felt a pillow hit her face.

"Ow! What? I'm up, I'm up." She slowly got up from the bed as exhaustion hit her.

"That's what you get for staying up so late Ms. Smarty-Pants."

"I wouldn't have had to leave if it wasn't for..."

Her best friend looked at her but she didn't finish her sentence. Poor Milly, too innocent to tell her anything. Plus how could she explain to her that a vampire she saw a year ago was back in town? Thankfully she didn't pry any further.  Cleo got dressed and ate a small breakfast. Today was Saturday, so there wouldn't be too many people until maybe the afternoon. If they got lucky.
