Four- Dinner

ELEVEN
I sat on the bed, drinking the water that Mike had gotten for me. I sipped it, not wanting to choke.

"What happened?" Mike asked as Jonathan paced around the room.

"Well. I woke up this morning...but I didn't see you so I called out your name but I didn't get a response. All of a sudden, I felt an urge to vomit, so I did. When I looked up and opened my eyes, I was in the void." I said.

"She hasn't been in the void for years..." Mike said as he held my hand.

"I have a theory about this. Maybe her body is trying to warn her about something. I could be wrong..." Jonathan said as sat on the chair near the door. I could hear something, so I walked out into the kitchen and I heard that it was the phone. I picked it up and spoke.

Me: Hello, Wheeler residence.

Max: Hey El, it's Max.

Me: Oh hey Max. What's up?

Max: Are we still on for tonight?

Me: Tonight?

Max: The dinner with Dustin, Suzie and Will?

Me: Oh, yes. Can you and Lucas get here an hour early? So around 3 pm?

Max: Sounds good.

Max: We'll see you at 3.

Me: Bye!

I hung up the phone, walking back into the bedroom.

"That was just Max. I asked her to come an hour early. Oh and she's bringing Eleanor with her..." I said happily.

"Aww Eleanor? How old is she like a year old?" Mike said.

"Yeah...she was laughing while on the call." I said.

"I should get going. Nancy will be home any minute now..." Jonathan said standing up. Jonathan left the house, leaving me and Mike to get ready for dinner which was 3 hours away.

Mike and I took a shower and we got dressed, with Mike leaving the room to get the table set up and with me putting on some makeup. I walked out into the dining room 10 minutes later.

"You look...amazing honey..." Mike said as he finished putting the cutlery on the table.

Lucas and Max pulled up at 3. I watched as Max carried a little Eleanor in her hand. Max handed her to me and I held her so tight.

"Hey baby Eleanor..." I said in a baby voice.

"It's your Aunty El..." I said smiling.

Even though Max and I aren't blood related, we  both agree that I was the sister that Max wanted but never had. When Max told me that she was expecting a girl, she told me right away.

We walked inside, with Mike and Lucas catching up and Max and I walking into the kitchen. I put Eleanor in a high chair.

2 hours later and everything was going well. Dustin and his wife Suzie arrived and Dustin immediately went to hang out with Will, Lucas, and Mike over near the tv, while Max and I got to know Suzie.

After talking for almost 30 minutes, we all sat down at the table while I brought the food over.
I sat down and started eating my food, but I felt something.

"Will you excuse me for a moment?" I asked. Mike nodded so I got up and walked to the bathroom. Without letting anyone see me, I walked into the bathroom, locked the door behind me and vomited. As I vomited, I heard footsteps.

Please don't come here...please don't come here...

"El? Are you in here?" Max asked.

Damn...

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine..." I said wiping my mouth.

"You only stutter when something's wrong. C'mon El...let me in.." Max persisted.

I used my powers to unlock the door and Max let herself in.

"El...are you ok? Have you been vomiting?" Max asked as knelt she beside me.

"Y-Yeah. I've been feeling a little unwell." I said.

"Have you been to see a doctor?" Max asked.

"Yeah. I went to see the doctor a couple of days ago." I said reaching for the glass on top of the counter.

"What did the doctor say?" Max asked, giving me some Panadol.

"She said that my symptoms are showing a simple stomach bug, but if the symptoms don't go away or they get worse within the week, then I should go back and get some tests done to see if there are any other explanations." I said sipping my water.

"Maybe you should go back? Or you should at least call..." Max said as she helped me up. We walked out into my bedroom and she sat me down and pulled up a chair. We heard a knock on the door.

"El? Max?" Mike asked.

"We're in here." Max said.

Mike asked us to go outside and we spent the rest of the evening talking. Dustin, Suzie, Will, Lucas and Eleanor left the house, with Max staying behind to talk to me.
