Rebecca Pov

So it turned out that I could actually go to school the following Monday morning, which I was actually delighted with, not because school was my favourite thing ever, (because it's not even in the top 50 things that I like to do), but because it meant that I had a little bit of normality in my life, (and I really needed normality like a fish needs water), (well I still need a sense of normality as most humans do but I don't need it as much as I needed it at age 11, ya know).

I walked into those school gates and I bumped into a tall boy, I don't know how I didn't see him as he's really bloody tall, but I do totally see how he didn't see me as I'm barely 5ft, which is shorter than most people, ya know, I also felt even worse because I knocked books out of his school bag.

"Shit, I am so sorry, I'm really clumsy-"
"Hey don't worry about it, it's fine"
"Are you sure-"
"Yeah I'm sure"
"(Sighs), thanks"
"Hey you're from London"
"Yes, I'm from London"
"Oh cool, I'm Levi"
"I'm Rebecca, it's nice to meet you Levi"
"It's nice to meet you too Rebecca"
"So, uh, do you know where English is in block C?"
"I do know where that is, that's with Mr Curry, come on, I'll show you, I'm going there anyway"
"Thank you"
"You're welcome"

So I followed him to where we needed to go, as he knew where I was going and he seemed like a nice person, (he was somehow nicer than he seemed).

"So what brings a London girl like yourself up to Manchester?"
"I don't actually know, it was just easier for everyone else as I don't really get on my Mum so it's easier for everyone this way"
"What about your Dad?"
"Yeah well he's dead so he doesn't really have an opinion on it"
"Oh God I'm so sorry-"
"Don't be, you didn't know"

We turned a corner and Levi started to slow down, so I gathered that we were near where we were supposed to be, we then stopped completely in front of a classroom as that was where we were supposed to be.

"Here it is"
"Thank you Levi"
"You're welcome, it looks like we have a lot of the same lessons so I can show you to them too if you want me to?"
"That would be nice thank you"
"You don't have to thank me-"
"I know that I don't have to thank you but I want to"

So we had the lesson and time passed, (as time has a want to do), the same thing continued from lesson to lesson until lunchtime, that was when I was introduced to Opal, who was already sat at the table.

"Opal, this is Rebecca, Rebecca this is Opal"
"Oh hi Rebecca, I hope that you haven't been too bored with Levi's tours-"
"(Nervous chuckle), no no he's been quite helpful actually, I would've been lost if it wasn't for him as I have no sense of direction"

So we then ate lunch, as you do at lunch time, yeah it was food so I'm not going to go into massive detail about it as I'm not a foodie, (honestly I eat because I have to rather than for enjoyment), but it was also quite loud as teenagers are loud in general.

A shorter boy then came over to the table about 20 minutes later and sat on the chair next to Opal, he looked quite flustered for some reason, he then introduced himself to me, as you do.

"Hi I'm Jake"
"I'm Rebecca, nice to meet you"
"Yeah you too, you're from London"
"Yes I am"
"Do you know any cockney?"
"I do but it's pointless to teach you it as it isn't used in Manchester"
"Fair enough"

Both Levi and Opal started laughing, as I guess that something funny was said, I was slightly confused as to why it was funny or what was even funny but I just gathered that I had a different sense of humour to most people.

"Anyway Jake, why were you late for lunch today?"
"I had detention with Mr Curry Levi"
"(Snorts), Of course you did, what did you do this time?"
"I broke a pencil by throwing it at a window"
"Yeah that would do it, what would even possess you to do that?"
"Well Levi, I was bored and I was curious about what would happen if I threw the pencil at the window"
"You didn't think that it would break?"
"I hoped that it wouldn't as that's the predicable outcome"
"That's just such a stupid reason to do something Jake"
"Yeah I know"
