Rebecca Pov

Levi and I were waiting on Opal and Jake, which wasn't all that unusual, but what was unusual for us was the 'weird?' air around us and it wouldn't have even been there if it wasn't for my mother turning up, Levi eventually broke the air, trying to make me feel better, (and that was before he knew about Rita).

"Are you ok?"
"No, I'm not really"
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"My Mother was at the door this morning"
"Was she the weird lady just waiting at the front door when I got there?"
"Yes, you talked to her?"
"Talked is a bit of a stretch, she asked if I knew when you were coming out, I said no and she buggered off"
"That sounds about right"

Yeah that really wasn't a conversation, it was a word at best, and I knew that Levi didn't who the fuck she was before I said it, (because he would've lost it with her and that wouldn't have been a good to be honest with you here), but it didn't stop me feeling really weird about it, and it wasn't Levi's fault, (and even 12 year old me could see that, and she saw none of the fucked up shit that was going on in her head).

"Do you know why she came?"
"To take me back to London with her"
"But she kicked you out Bex"
"Yep, she couldn't see it when I pointed it out to her"
"Couldn't or wouldn't see it?"
"Well, I couldn't care either way, I'm never going back to London and I told her as such"
"Does Leo know?"
"Yeah Leo knows, he has to report it to my case worker, I don't know what she can actually do about it but I suppose it's better than nothing"

Levi didn't seem all that convinced by my case worker being able to do anything about it, but I didn't have any other choice besides to trust my case worker, but I didn't say all this to him at the time as it would've felt weird to, if that makes any sense to you, (it probably doesn't make any sense to anyone but me, but that's ok).

"Sorry that your Birthday started off proper shit"
"It's not your fault that my mother can't stick to her own bloody decision"
"I know that, I'm still sorry about your mother"
"It's ok, she'll do whatever she wants to do"

Opal came running towards us like she was being chased, (now she wasn't, but I needed you to be able to properly imagine how she was actually running), so naturally the discussion of the disastrous Mum situation temporarily ended while the morning's were exchanged between the three of us.

"How's the birthday going so far?"

Yeah so the not talking about the Mum conundrum thing kind of got fucked out the window faster than you can say no, though it was a very fair question for Opal to ask me here, (and yes, I now realise that I was more blunt than I meant to come off as to Opal, you'll see in a sec).

"It's been a bit shit Opal"
"Why's that?"
"My mother turned up at Leo's door"
"How did she get his address?"
"I don't fucking know, she could've asked any fucker in Manchester as it's a city"
"Yeah that does sound bad"
"Because it is"
"Is there anything that you can do to stop her doing that again?"
"Leo's getting onto my case worker but other than doing it officially, there's not much else to be done about her"

Opal being Opal then swiftly moved the conversation on before the air got more awkward between us all, (which for a 12 year old, wasn't the worst choice that she could've made), and honestly I appreciated her for doing as much, even if I don't always tell her as such, (her head doesn't need to get any bigger).

"Why did you come to school on ya birthday?"
"Because Opal, I like the routine-"
"She'd miss being our short arse Opal"
"Fuck off Li"
"Nah thanks Bex, I like annoying ya"
"That's fighting talk"
"I know"
"I'm soo glad that you're self aware here Levi"
"I think I preferred you not talking all that much"
"Nah, you'd miss my wit"
"Is that what you call it?"
"Oh ha ha"

I definitely felt a lot better about the day than I had been before I left for school, but I could still feel the panic laying low in my stomach like a ticking time bomb, hoping that it would go away on it's own accord rather than an escort out the building, but knowing that it was probably going to be a kicking and screaming match with myself about it.
