When Loki wasn't working on his dissertation or writing for the astronomical society, he spent time reviewing medical products. Loki did his research so that he could be as well-informed as possible when he was writing reviews. It was a hobby of his and he earned no recognition at first for the detailed reviews he gave online. But then Anthony Stark, the son of Stark Industries' CEO Howard Stark, received word of it.

Not only was Loki a genius but, as an Asgardian, he was far older and wiser than any human. In addition, as the greatest sorcerer in Asgard, people had been all too happy to ask for his help when there was a tricky medical situation and Loki had indeed been a talented healer. As such, Stark was pleased by the level of detail and began to communicate with Loki personally. He even invited Loki to come and see him in Massachusetts, particularly in Cambridge at MIT, where the teenager was currently studying Mechanical Engineering.

"You must be Alden Walker!"

The boy was, Loki knew, the same age as him but he was short and still had boyish features.

"Indeed I am," Loki replied, smiling. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Anthony Stark."

"Please, call me Tony."

"Then, by all means, call me Alden."

"It's great to finally meet you," the other continued, grinning. "Genius conversations aren't quite the same online."

"I didn't expect my work to get recognised."

"Surely you wanted us to see it though?" Tony asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Of course, that was the whole point."

"I did show my father," Tony stated indifferently, "But he was reluctant to branch out into medical technology."

"That's a shame," Loki shook his head.

"Well, rest assured that I'll go down that route when I'm CEO," Tony replied flippantly.

"That's good of you," Loki replied. "Hospitals dearly need the help and support."

"Stark Industries do donate to hospitals, you know," Tony pointed out. "We give to children's hospices and stuff all the time."

"But donating materials might help more," Loki suggested quietly.

Tony nodded.

"I do see your point, I really do. But now I must run to a lecture."

"What is it on?" Asked Loki, intrigued.

The boy shrugged.

"Something about the engineering of aircraft. I wouldn't have gone but my friend wanted to."

Loki laughed.

"Do you mind if I tag along? It sounds interesting."

"Of course!" Tony said, sounding pleased.

No doubt he wanted to mess around with Loki while his friend listened. But he hadn't reckoned with Loki's desire for knowledge.

"So this is my friend Rhodey," Tony said by way of introduction.
