Having returned, Loki considered Dr Banner's research and his attitude towards the Super Soldier serum. Tony had hacked S.H.I.E.L.D's database as soon as he found out about their input in his life and Loki had given the data a good read of his own. Interestingly enough, Steven Rogers' files were on there and so Loki read them, trying to imagine why on earth a man like Banner wanted to replicate a serum designed for soldiers.

"I'm just off," Tony said, walking past. "Happy said I'm an hour late or something but I'm sure they won't mind."
                              Loki laughed.
"I'll phone Daniel and let him know."

"Sure you won't come with?" Tony offered.
"I shouldn't have gone last week, I'm swamped in work. Stane managed to mess up everything, didn't he?"
"He did that a lot," Tony said, uncharacteristically quiet.
Sensing that mentioning Stane's name hadn't been the best idea, Loki ignored it and spoke again.

"Enjoy your tour," he said, turning round to flash Tony a winning smile.
The billionaire promptly returned it, keen to appear normal, even in front of his best friend.
                              "And don't hit on Libby."
                              "Urgh, fine," Tony sighed.

"Let me know when you're getting back and I'll pick you up from the airport myself. We have ourselves an event."
                              "What event?"
"Some sort of press conference. You know the usual. Natasha arranged it."

"What, the tinker-tailor-soldier-spy? The red-haired dominatrix?"
"Whatever you want to call her, Tony, she arranged this."
"I can't believe we haven't hired someone else."

"She did save our lives, Tony," Loki pointed out in an exasperated tone.
"By muscling her way into them."
"It's the principle of the thing. Spies do what they think is right just like any of us."

                              "Hmm."
"You don't have to like it. Like it or loathe it but damn well turn up."
"You know that I'll just go out of my way to miss it?" Tony raised an eyebrow.

"That's what makes it fun," Loki grinned, irritation dispersed at Tony's childishness. "Now go, before Happy explodes in worry."
                              "See ya, Alden."
Loki merely smiled and gave a half-hearted wave before returning to his work.
                              *
                              "Alden!"
"Daniel," Loki smiled, hearing the excitement in the other man's voice.
"Everyone's buzzing. They all want to meet Tony Stark."
                              "Including you, Daniel?" Loki teased.
