It was the day Normani was finally planning to "purpose."

She wanted to make it special because she felt bad that neither her or Ally would get to experience an "proposal" instead of one that was already set in stone. Also because that's just how she was when it came to Ally nowadays.

"Good morning," Ally said, sitting on the couch with a bowl of cereal in her hand, a random show on the television.

"Morning," Mani gave her a kiss on the head and walked into the kitchen.

"What're we doing today babe?" Ally asked.

"I'm supposed to go grocery shopping with Lauren," Normani said, making her own bowl of cereal, "she seriously needs a roommate or something she has no clue how to uphold a house," Normani chuckled, making up a quick excuse.

"Okay, I guess I'll text Dinah," Ally said, a little bummed she wouldn't be hanging out with Normani today.

"No!" Normani exclaimed quickly, earning herself a confused look from Ally, "she was going to come with Lauren and I but she texted me earlier this morning saying she was sick," Normani lied, hoping it was enough.

"Oh, okay," Ally frowned slightly. Normani hated the fact that she had to lie, but knew she had no choice.

She walked over to Ally and sat next to her, "sorry bubs."

"It's okay," Ally gave her a brief smile and turned her attention back to the television. Normani sighed quietly and ate her cereal.

When Normani was ready to go, she came down the steps to see Ally still on the couch, now watching Grey's Anatomy.

Normani gave Ally a blanket, who took it and wrapped herself in it, "okay, I'm going to go, I'll see you soon, okay?" Normani said, standing a little to the side.

Ally nodded, not looking away from the television. Normani kissed her cheek, "I will see you soon."

"Okay," Ally mumbled. Normani turned her face a little and kissed her lips.

"Have a good day baby cakes," Normani smiled, getting up and walking towards the garage door.

"You too," Ally said. Normani winked and walked out.

Normani drove over to Lauren's, where she and Dinah were waiting for her.

"That was terrible!" Normani exclaimed when Lauren and Dinah got into the car.

"What happened?" Lauren asked.

"I had to lie to her about what we were doing, obviously. But she looked so sad. She was even going to call Dinah but I came up with the lame excuse of you being sick," Normani said.

"That is a pretty lame excuse, she bought it though?" Dinah chuckled.

"Yeah, she's been on the couch all morning watching TV," Normani said as they pulled into the parking lot of Home Depot.

"Aw my poor baby," Dinah frowned.

"That's what I was thinking, but I know it's for the best and that hopefully she'll like my surprise," Normani said, turning the car off.

"Oh she will, I'm so excited," Lauren said giddily as they walked into Home Depot.

"She loves cliché so I think she'll love this," Dinah added as they made their way over to the planks of wood.

"I sure hope so, it better be worth it for lying to her," Normani grumbled.

"It will be, don't worry Mani," Lauren gave her a smile.
