It really do be like that sometimes

To say Kai's day started off shit was an understatement. First, he sleeps through his alarm, which in consequence had forced Nya to try to wake him up, failed, called Cole, who also failed to wake him up, which caused Nya to dump a bowl of water on his head. And because of that, he had to wash his hair, re-apply the dozens of products to it, and have a small breakfast due to him being late for rehearsal.

Rehearsal proceeded as normal (minus the scolding he received from his sister and the rest of the crew), and by the end of it, he felt the normal exhaustion that he usually felt after hours of singing and dancing the same songs over and over again. Cue him eating a too-large of an amount of food and passing out for at least 2 hours. By the time he had woken up, it was already 7 pm, having had eaten around 5 pm. He grabbed his phone and was scrolling mindlessly when he stumbled upon a photo of his girlfriend that had been posted the previous day. It was her decked in winter clothes, mug in her hands, the caption reading, 'Sometimes winter brings warmth.'

A small smile appeared on Kai's face as he posted a quick little comment on her post, though the smile soon faded. He hadn't seen her in at least two weeks now, the only interactions being the occasional texts and less occasional phone calls. The amount he missed her was almost embarrassing. So, in the spur of the moment, he decided to give her a quick visit. Her apartment wasn't that far, and it would only be a small "hi-bye" sort of thing. He lifted himself off from his bed, got ready, bid farewells to his sister and bud, and made his way to his girlfriend's place. What he didn't expect, however, was the feeling of total shock that filled his body when he got there.

After the half-hour walk, he had finally arrived to his destination. Knocking on the door and sending her a quick text to alert her of his presence, he waited for a moment. Seeing as she wasn't answering,

he reached under the doormat placed in front of the apartment to grab the spare key.

She still left it there, even after I told her it was risky. He thought.

See, Kai overthought a lot of things. He would worry too much over the safety of his girlfriend constantly, especially seeing as they were both in the spotlight in front of everyone. When he found out that she hid a spare key in case she got locked out of her apartment, he freaked out, worrying over the thought of someone breaking in and possibly hurting her. He had convinced her (well, thought he did) to remove it from there, at which she agreed to do so. He hadn't expected her to lie to him, but he shrugged it off, thinking that she probably forgot to remove it. Opening the door, he let out a little, "Hey, Sky?" before shutting it behind him. As he was about to remove his shoes, he heard muffled noises coming from the back of the apartment. His eyes widened as his heart pace quickened. His legs moved before he could give the command, worrying that his girlfriend was in trouble. He burst open her bedroom door, "Skylor, are you ok-"

His question was cut short. In front of him was a sight that he never thought he'd see. His girlfriend, Skylor, the one he had been dating for the past seven months, fully unclothed atop some rando he had never seen before. He froze, petrified at the sight, them following along suit.

Kai locked eyes with Skylor's grey ones, her expression just as shocked, yet with a tired look on it also. He felt himself heat up, rage filling every cell of his body. He started seeing red, opening his mouth to shout at them, but nothing came out. He felt his breathe shorten, and ran out the door, fleeing the apartment, not paying attention to his name being shouted behind him.

He ran in the now raining outdoors, not paying attention to where he was going. He couldn't think straight, he didn't want to think. He didn't want to remember that cursed image. He didn't want to feel so angry, so frustrated, so betrayed, so sad. All he wanted was to hold the one he loved in his arms, to laugh with her, to make stupid pick-up lines aimed towards her just so that she could tease him. He only wanted to receive the love that he gave, not give love and be back-stabbed in return.
