When I See You Again (Tom Nook x Crazy Redd)

Chapter 9: Regret.

"What are you doing?!" Redd thinks to himself "S-Stop it! You're gonna do something you're going to regret!"

Redd stands nearby Tom and K.K. eavesdropping on the conversation,

"Um... Hello again K.K."

"Nook! Good to see ya bud, how you doing?"

"I'm doing well! Uh... if it's not too much to ask of you... Per chance you may wait for me at the side of the residential services building? I wish to speak with you in private."

"Woof, sounds serious. Sure, i'll talk with ya."

"P-perfect! Just... give me a moment, I need to do something real quick."

He watches Nook enter Residential Services while K.K. hangs out on the side of the building. Like his body gained a mind of it's own, it moves over to K.K. only to be temporarily stopped by his mind,

"N-No! I don't want this! Please! Just... let it be! Leave him alone!"

His body continues on it's path of destruction. Ignoring every tear filled plea his brain keeps throwing at it. He finally makes it to K.K. he stares at him confused,

"Yo... who might you be?"

"God... no... please... I don't want to disappoint him again." Redd's mind says, until it shuts off entirely, his mouth begins to move on it's own.

"Leave him alone." Redd says.

"I beg your pardon?"

"Just... stay away from Nook... please."

"... Why?"

"Sorry for the spoiler, but Nook called you here to confess."

"Confess what?"

"That he has a crush on you."

"H-He what?"

"Yeah... and... I have a crush on ol' Nookie myself. And I can't have you taking him from me."

"Oh! So this is what's all this about!"

"I'm sorry..."

"No, you're fine."

"Huh?"

"You, sort of saved me trouble there, if he confessed to me I would've rejected."

"Wait... why?"

"Bud, I already got a girl at home. She's as beautiful than anything I have ever seen in this world, and I don't plan on replacing her with anyone anytime soon. From time to time, I get asked out like this, and had to deal with watching the heartbreak of someone being rejected, and me being the one to reject them. Lemme tell ya, it ain't fun."

"So, I have a chance then?"

"He's all yours."

"Yes!"

[Meanwhile in Nooks perspective.]

"Just... stay away from Nook... please."

Nook watches in Horror, what is he doing?! Why is he doing this?!

"... Why?"

"Sorry for the spoiler, but Nook called you here to confess."

Redd... of course it had to be Redd! Every time something pivotal happens in his life. It's. Redd.

"That he has a crush on you."

"H-He what?"

He can't listen to anymore of this. He get's out of earshot from the two and sits back on the front wall of residential and waits. After a few moments, Redd walks away with the biggest smirk on his face, like the lying, conning, cheat that he is. Redd sees Nook and his expression changed to fear,

"O-oh! Hi Nookie, how-"

"Once again..."

"Wh-"

"What have I ever done with you for you to do this against me huh? Do you hate me? Do you just... despise my very existence?! Why?! Why must you always do this to me?!" Nook says beginning to cry.

"Nook... buddy."

"Stop." Nook says wiping his eyes, "By this point... I should stop being surprised." Nook turns to Redd, wearing the same exact cold and deadpanned expression when he first entered the island. "You disappoint me yet again."

Redd stands there, realizing that it's back to square one.

"Get out of my sight."

Redd starts walking, his face frozen in a disheveled look. As if his soul had left his body.

"I can't believe this..." Nook says about to enter residential, but stops at the sound of someone yelling.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH, I HATE THIS CLICHE!" Potato grips his shirt.

"Potato?! What are you-

Potato shakes him a little.

"God damn it, you dingus! It's always when they say something important you walk away!"

"What are you talking about?!"

"K.K. is straight! And has a freaking girlfriend! Ya attention span of a mentally insufficient child, having jerk-wad!"

"H-he what?"

"Turns out I made the right call to go incognito, gosh dang it..."

"Th-Then why?! Why would Redd ask him to stop talking with me?!"

"Dude, you didn't see the signs?"

"What signs?"

~Meanwhile~

Redd packs up all his belongings onto his boat, only to be interrupted by a silhouette of a peculiar gentleman he knows all too well,

"Hey cousin! Here for more wares?!" Redd says hysterically.

"Redd..."

"Or rare furniture, or unbreakable tools, you name it!"

"Redd."

"C'mon cousin, buy something! Everything I sell is resemblant of my life! Something you at one point see as true, only for you to find out it's going to be just another stupid and disgusting phony!"

"REDD!"

"WHAT?! What is it?! Have you come to ask me to stay?! What's there to stay for anymore, huh?! Nook hates me again! BACK TO SQUARE ONE! I'M SICK OF IT! No matter HOW HARD I try, it just has to end this way! Well you know what? I'm throwing in the towel! I give up! Nook doesn't want to see me anymore? G-GOOD!" Redd breaks down crying

"... Ya done?"

"SHADDAP!" Redd says in the middle of sobbing.

Potato waits a bit for Redd to calm down, after the sobbing dies down Redd asks him,

"Why are you here Potato?"

"To tell you you're an idiot."

"Wow, very helpful, thank you."

"It's true though."

"Why? Cuz I tried sabotaging Nook's confession?"

"No. You're giving up."

"Hmm?"

"You have... ZERO. zilch... nada. NO clue how close you are right now. You're so close that it's extremely stupid how you're just gonna throw it all away, if you leave it like this... you will NEVER see Nook again. You will lose him and he will hate you forever. But, you have the opportunity to fix all this. Just talk with him."

"... where is he?"

"Stargazing peak." Potato says, pointing up at the highest spot on the island.

"Alright... wish me luck."

"Don't screw this up! I can't have my favorite OTP falling apart!"

Redd runs to Nook, determined to save their friendship, and probably make it something more...
