"Do you regret going?" Edward broke through the silence while parking his car.

"No," I shook my head, "It was really great seeing my mom...Just really hard saying goodbye..."

"It doesn't have to be goodbye."

I finally looked at him with an offended expression, "Is that why you asked me to go? You thought I was gonna change my mind?"

"I'm always hoping for that."

"Oh--Bite me!" I tugged at my seatbelt in frustration, his hand gripping my forearm when I tried to exit the car--"What?"

"If I asked you to stay in the car, would you?" I quickened my pace to leave, pulling up my hood while passing him, "Of course not..." grumbled from behind as I neared the steps to find Jacob parked in front.

"You're alive, I'm shocked(!)" I raised a brow at the nearing wolf.

"Charlie said you left town," he bypassed my sarcasm.

"Yeah. To visit my mom. Why?--You checking to see if I'm still human(!)" I chuckled, expecting him to join in after my joke. Then I noticed his serious expression, my humor dropping instantly--"Oh, my God, you are..."

"Look, I'm here to warn you," his gaze shifted to Edward, "If your kind comes on our land again--"

"Wait, what?" I intercepted.

"You didn't tell her?" I was ignored.

"Just leave it alone, Jacob," my brow creased as I looked between the two.

"You didn't tell me what?"

"Emmett and Paul had a misunderstanding. It's nothing to worry about--"

"Listen to you," I turned back to Jake, "Did you lie to get her out of town, too?"

"You should just leave. Now," Edward squared up.

"She has a right to know."

"A right to know what?" my tone grew impatient.

"The redhead came through Forks this weekend--"

"Victoria?!" My eyes widened with Jacob's words, body frozen until I scoffed, "Alice's vision..."

"I was trying to protect you--" I shook my head at Edward's excuse.

"And you know how I feel about that. Equal, Edward...That's not gonna work if you keep lying to me..." I shook my head again, releasing a heavy breath. "We'll talk later--but you. We're talking now, on your bike."

"Hey," my arm was gripped, I looked into concerned eyes--"Bella..."

"Equal..." I wrapped my arms around his neck, "I can take care of myself and I love you," I placed a kiss on his lips, "Remember that instead of trying to dictate my life like an overprotective douche, next time..." I stepped back, accepting Jacob's offering of a helmet before riding off into the fog.

"Of all the places..." I assessed the packhouse, "Are you sure this is a good idea?--I mean, I am 'vampire girl', remember?" the thudding of steps pulled Jacob's pack to greet us.

"Hey, look who's back!" I turned with Embry's voice.

"What up, Bella!" My eyebrows raised with a new addition.
