The house was soundless and it was slightly eerie because customarily there'd always be noise. Caleb would be screaming at the tv, Christian would be producing a ruckus in the kitchen and Dad would be yelling at everyone to shut up.
But there was none of that tonight. Caleb was at the movies with Jeremy and some girl who was unfortunate enough to land a date with the raven-haired idiot. Christian had gone with Maya and her girlfriend to a poetry reading. Yes, a poetry reading.
Dad was out with some staff members from the school and I was so delighted to hear that. It'd taken him a lot of encouragement to join them for drinks. To be honest, I was a little concerned about him because he seemed to be more stressed than usual. Both he and Caleb were working themselves too hard over this match against Martelle. Caleb had programmed two practices a day: one an hour before school and then another after school.
I groaned, balancing the chips and a can of coke in my hands as I pushed through the door to my room. Liam looked up from his spot on my bed and beamed at the chips in my hand. He was so pretty. Using my foot to kick my door shut, I wandered over to my bed and deposited the bags of chips in front of him, settling the coke onto the bedside table.
"Have you decided on a movie to watch yet?" I questioned as I ransacked through the drawer of my nightstand. Once I found what I was looking for, I opened the can of coke and placed my metal straw inside.
There was the sound of rustling bags as Liam opened the chips and snacked on one. He looked over to me and snorted. "You have a metal straw?"
"Five actually," I emphasised with a stubborn look. "Save the environment, bitch."
He laughed again and settled back against the headboard. My eyes examined his figure, taking note of the grey sweatpants he wore as well as the white t-shirt. I looked down to my own outfit consisting of one of Christian's hoodies and my batman shorts.
"C'mere," Liam pulled me from my thoughts and motioned me forward. He sat with his legs opened and spread out, gesticulating for me to sit between them. Without pondering it, I hopped onto the bed and settled between his legs, pulling the blanket over us. His arms wrapped around me to keep me close and I nestled into the warmth he emitted.
I picked up the remote and browsed through the numerous options on my tv. "What do you want to watch? And don't you dare say horror movie because this isn't one of those books where the guy comforts the girl," I assured him as I stared at the tv, feeling his chest reverberate with laughter. "I will get up and sleep in my dad's room then you can watch the movie alone."
