Chapter 19 - The Big Day

The day was finally approaching. Mr. Winters 60th birthday party was right around the corner. Nashon had the ring and had his speech prepared. He was ready to put on a show, that he was sure would secure his position as partner. He practiced in the mirror every night before he went to bed. He often thought about what marriage would be like. He knew that his time with Serenity would be limited once he actually tied the knot, but he figured he still had some time before they reached that point.

Nashon got fitted for a $38,000 Brioni tuxedo. He had to look like he represented a multi-billion dollar empire. Tiffany had been running around making sure her dress for the event was perfect. The day was here. Tiffany had arranged for a limo to pick up her and Nashon from the estate. A security team traveled with them as well. Nashon had been to a few high profile events, but nothing like this. They arrived and walked hand in hand down the red carpet with camera lights flashing. Tiffany had gone over poses with Nashon to make sure each picture they took was perfect. Tiffany's dress was amazing. She looked like a superstar, which was even an understatement.

Tiffany had bought Nashon a $100,000 Rolex that she placed around his wrist as they were leaving the house. They were truly celebrities and more than fit the part. Halfway through the night people started giving their speeches honoring Mr. Winters accomplishments. Nashon started to feel nervous because the speeches sounded really good. Even though he had been practicing, he was starting to feel insecure. It was his turn to go up. He started with raising a glass in honor of Mr. Winters and elaborated on his success and character. After his 15 minute speech, he concluded by thanking Mr. Winters for raising such a beautiful, successful, and intelligent daughter and started walking towards Tiffany. Even though Nashon was a whole engaged man the thought of Serenity moving on infuriated him. As they drove through the city Serenity marveled over the tall buildings and bright lights. I always wondered what it would be like to live in a big city. Nashon looked over at her and smirked. You think you'll like it. Well, I always dreamed of having a house in the country a nice two story with a big yard and maybe a big porch for barbeques. Nashon liked that thought it was similar to his dream before he met Tiffany, but Tiffany would expect them to live in some big mansion in the hills, with a maid and butler. Well, city life isn't that bad, it's where the action is. Yeah, I guess, Serenity softly responded.

So, are we going somewhere special or just driving? You'll see when we get there. Nashon pulled up to the parking lot entrance of his building and typed in the key code. Where are we? Serenity said, as she sat up straight. Nashon just looked at her and smiled. He parked his car and got out to open Serenity's door. Follow me he said. He led her to the elevator, and they went up to the 23rd floor. This is a nice building Nashon. Serenity said as she entered the hallway. Nashon quickly typed in the code to his door. After you. He held the door opened as Serenity walked in looking around in amazement. Wow, who lives here? This is my place. Yours Nashon? Wow, you rich rich. Serenity stood in front of the doorway taking it all in. She had never seen an apartment like this. She had lived in the hood her whole life and had never even stayed in a fancy hotel.
