Ch. 1

Alex's POV.

I hung my head low as I walked among the crowds. Last night I had released a killer among these same people of today. Only one guy escaped from me, but I let him. He didn't do what I expected though. Leo kept glancing back staring at me with wide eyes. I was shocked. They always run away scarred for life, terrified, thinking they were dead, never looking back. Each knew I had a secret. None had figured it out. None had tried. What they don't know doesn't effect them. No one cares about what I am, but they should. I'm half angel.

My head knocked against somebody's chest. It was the same guy that ran last night, Leo. He was known for power. He wasn't as strong as me though. I have the advantage of home field.

"What do you want Leo?" I smiled.

"What's your secret?" He questioned.

"Like it involves you!" I laughed and stepped into a coffee shop. The waiter headed over to take our orders. Our! Wait why is he sitting here?!

"Get up!" I hissed through clenched teeth. I bore daggers into him.

"No." He reassured me. "I won't leave you alone until I know."

"That's for me to know, and you to never find out." I said.

"Well then you won't be getting rid of me." He laughed.

"Do you know-"

"May I please take your order." The waitress interrupted.

"Uh, yes, may I please have a Cafe Macchiato." I replied.

"You sir."

"I'll have an Cafe Breva. Thanks." Leo said. She walked away with that going to retrieve what we had ordered.

"You know your the only man I've ever seen twice. They all lock themselves in rooms after me." I said.

"Maybe it's because your intimidating, and scare the hell out of everybody." He offered.

"Well thanks." I sarcastically said.

"My pleasure Alex." He purred.

"Not working. What's mine is mine, for my eyes and ears only. I will never tell you." I spat.

"Whatever makes you happy darling." Leo whispered. Dear me how he was going to get revenge. may as well start it now then never. I was about to pin Leo's arms down when the waitress came back.

"Here are your orders." She said setting them down. Then she placed down the bill and waved at Leo before walking away.

"You just got so lucky." I muttered.

"Lucky that that whore gave me her number!" He laughed.

"No. That she came right before I was going to kill you!" I snapped.

"Ha like you would do that. I'm the one who keeps our worlds in balance. You know that." He pointed out. "How can you be so harsh to someone so important, and good-looking as me?"

"Don't be so sure of yourself there. Trust me I'm more useful to this world than you. You are a mere grain of sand in the ocean. A character in the game. I am more than that you'll see. Also I wouldn't say you are good-looking at all. I would never go on a date with you even if it meant telling my secret." I corrected.

"Hmm you may be right. I'm just a pawn. I know what I am, but what are you?" He wondered.

"I'm not going to slip up demon. You know I'm one too, but not full. I'll admit that, but not my other half." I said. I also won't admit I'm mortal!

"Come on!" Leo pouted.

"Bye." I whispered and was on my way. The world had become a cold, blinking lighted place in that time. Night had fallen in Manhattan leaving the sun and it's warmth out of sight. Taxi's and all buzzed by on the crowded roads leading in, out, and about the city. I looked up to see skyscrapers glistening with their windows reflecting all the lights. The city that never sleeps. Music blared from passing cars. I looked away from the sky to see Leo standing in front of me.

"I missed you." He cooed as he grabbed my arm dragging me through the streets. We earned glares from adults. I focused my attention on his grip. In seconds I had wrenched my arm from him and was running away. He followed running up the side of a wall. People snapped pictures with phones. All eyes directed our way. He stopped letting himself fall backwards. Leo turned to face the ground as shrieks of horror came. He landed feet first next to me.

His eyes twinkled like stars on a clear night. I felt overjoyed inside as he pulled me over to a hotel. We climb inside the elevator and let it carry us up. All the buttons were lit up from 1-26. We stopped at the top and walked into room 766.
