Facts about Flag
At the both sides of the flag, there are two red stripes while the center is white with a red maple leaf at the center. The red colour symbolizes hope and prosperity, and white represents tranquility. About the stripes themselves, they represent to honour the lives that were lost during the both world wars. Even Canada was a British colony, unlike the other former colonies that became independent, the Maple Leaf Flag decided not to put Union Jack somewhere around the flag; instead, Canadian Government decided to put a giant maple leaf at the center. Now, the maple leaf is on the flag, and it means more more than "because it only exists in Canada". The maple leaf symbolizes Canada's independence, and the 10 edges of the leaf represent the provinces, hence, the eleventh edge represents those 10 provinces under one nation.
