Okay so this first letter is going to short since I don't have much to say before the next one. I hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you think! :)

Dakotah,
No matter what I say, nothing is going to bring you back. I wish it could. It makes me wish I never left Thunder Bay.
What if I never pursued my dream? Would you still be alive? Would we still be together?
We were young and stupid, I get that. I mean we had just graduated from high school and you move around with me for hockey. I just wish you had given me a reason as to why you just up and left. We were in love. Or at least I thought we were. I guess you didn't feel the same way when you went back to our hometown.
I'm sorry I gave up. I wanted you back more than anything, but you didn't seem like you wanted the same so I stopped.
There was the time I was home for the holidays and your family came over to our house. I was looking forward to seeing you, I was so nervous. All I wanted to do was talk to you and see how you were doing. Then your father told me that you were in Spain. He told me he was sorry that you just left, but I told him it was fine and laughed it off. It honestly wasn't surprising.
You always wanted to go to Spain. You hated that we had to learn French in high school instead of Spanish. Everyone would laugh when you would purposefully confuse the teacher by slipping in a Spanish word every once in a while.
I guess in the back of my mind I always knew you wouldn't stick around, but I gave you a ring anyway. You said yes and then I found it on my night stand one morning.
I'm not mad, just confused as to why you left. Why you didn't call when you needed someone. You weren't alone in this. I was always going to be there for you, Dakotah.
I'm never going to forget driving out to the cabin, singing along to old 90's music. Or anything we did together, really.
I love you,
Robert
