Copperbell Mines

Our party was easy. Gale was a freelance paladin, champion in the gladiator arena, Rio the white mage, Shira the monk in training and of course myself, a rouge trained in the underground since I was very young.

"So, rouges, weren't they supposed to be bad?" Shira asked as Gale proceeded to venture forth.

"Not really. It depends on how you view their work. The upright thieves or rouges now, uphold the law of Limsa for the Admiral from cutthroat pirates which would do it harm."

"So like underground guards?"

"I guess so?" I didn't really know how to truly explain it.

"How long have you been with them?"

"Well, all I can remember was I was still young when I picked up the first pair of stabbers. So, probably around six or seven?"

"Whoa! That young? What about your father? Did he ever find out?"

"He did, but knew it would be best if I can defend myself. So he allowed it but very limited."

"Ladies, I know most of these creatures here are quite boring, but can we at least keep on track?" Gale called us out.

We both laughed as we ran up to catch up. Everything seemed to be too easy as we descend into the mines. At least until we get to the first shaft. A swarm of spriggans came out of nowhere as we decimated them all. "Is that all?" Shira wondered. A loud growl came from the tunnel above. "And that's a clear no,"

We chuckled as the a small worker of the giant clan came barreling towards us. Gale took its full attention as Shira and I began to chip away at the beasts' life. It's skin was tough as rock and I could barely leave a single scratch. "Damn. I can barely leave a mark," I huffed. The beast swung its pickaxe backwards, pushing both Shira and I into a pile of rubble.

Blue light surrounded us each as we rose back up. "Thanks Rio," Shira said, charging right back at the beast. I hung back and watched. There has to be a weak spot of which I can hit. I thought. And sure enough, I found it. A little pocket, underneath a plate of armor, I dig a single dagger in, twisted it in deeper, hearing the beast cry out in pain. It desperately swung and threw itself at walls to get me off, I kept on just long enough to get the wound lager enough to bleed it out. I jumped off shortly after, watching the beast fall.

"Damn. That's some handy work there, Ruby." Rio patted me on the shoulder.

"Heehee, yea..." I walked back to the giant and took a key off of its belt. "Hey, could this be-"

"It's locked!" Shira said over me. "Oh, you have the key. Great job, Alex." Shira almost seemed to bounce towards me as I handed her the key. Luckily it still managed to function and it was down to the next shaft. I noticed a bag of fire sand, picking it up to get a closer look, it seemed to be useful. "Hey, could we use this?"

"What is it?"

"Firesand from the looks of it." I said. I tucked it in my bag as a just in case. As we came to the next open area, we all stood staring at a giant green blob.

"What the hell is that?!" We all said. Laughter filled the room as we tried to examine the place from the entrance. It seemed like the miners before didn't finish digging down here as there is still a blasting device here.

"Oh, I've been meaning to ask, but why do you wear a headband over your eyes?" Shira asked.

I lifted my hand to the black bandage. "Oh this...well, I kinda got into a minor accident and it cause a disruption of aether causing it to blind my left completely. But I can see still, just aether in the shape of people or creatures. But not that...whatever it is or inanimate objects like rocks." I told her.

"How long do you need that on for?" Gale asked.

"A few more days." I lied

"Can you still see through it with your right?"

"Yes, Rio, I can still see just fine. It's just a bit darker like when in the shade."

"Alright. So, how are we supposed to approach this thing?" Gale asked.

We all thought a moment as I said, "Throw the shield?"

"What? No! An FC mate made this for me. I'm not going to throw it and get green goo over it."

"Then let me punch it," Shira suggested.

"No, not that either." Gale said, sighing. He then heard a spell casted and stones lifted from the ground and at the blob. "Rio!"

"What? Grab it's attention now, Gale." Rio snickered.

Gale provoked it to facing him alone as Shira tried to hit it, but its larger size made it difficult. "So, we cant even hurt it, let alone land a good hit."

I observed the place carefully and activated a pulley, a bomb appeared and was not happy. "Uh, Gale, a little help?" I said, which oddly enough sounded weird coming from me, which I normally tank.

Gale threw the shield at it, angering it more as it chose to go boom on itself. The blob too most of the hit and spilt into two. "Whoa! We found a weakness!" Shira cheered, pushing the lever down again.

A black figure appears from behind the rock pile as I shouted, "Spriggan!" Shira and I dispatched it easily as the second bomb explodes. It spilt again as we did it a third time, of course another Spriggan showed up and meet its demise too. The blob was now so tiny that we could easily stomp on it.

"We have a problem," Rio called. "The next tunnel is completely blocked unless we have-"

"Something to blow it up." I said. I pulled out the firesand I found earlier. "We could use this, but it may not be enough."

"I found another." Shira said. We both placed the firesand at the base of the rocks and Gale push the lever down. "Fire in the hole!" He shouted as the exposition destroyed the rocks and created a path way.

More creatures blocked our path, but with our combined strengths, the fell one by one. We reached the deepest level and there stood a towering giant. It was pissed. Gale grabbed it attention, as all tanks do, as the rest of us tried to chip at its life. It soon charged at different target, breaking its allies from behind.

"Shit! It's getting reinforcements!" Rio called. Shira and I switched off on who took out the add and finally the main beast fell with one stabber in its eye.

On our way out, I had learned a lot about the guys and Shira. It was amazing to hear all kinds of stories they had to share about the FCs they were part of and the mates they gained.

Watching the three part ways was hard. I had begun to grow quite fond of each of them. Shira is like a sister who cares deeply for anyone she comes by. Gale is the biggest cinnamon roll ever, you can help but want to hug him. And Rio, he's quite a character when it comes to conversations. He can make you a chatterbox in no time at all. Even Leo, who wasn't with us this time, most people would just want to pet him cause of his small size, until the tables turn.

Rio and Gale are part of the same FC which is known as Mortal Sword as Leo and Shira are part of Ultima.

I've become even more determined to forge my own FC to steal them for my own. That is if they wish. A thought trailed. Then I thought of what Parzi and Tsuyako were up to.
