Sometimes you would question whether you had a girlfriend as Lena would be lost within her work for days at a time and you would see very little of her or not at all. Lena was a hard worker and threw herself into her work without any other cares, rather wanting to do everything that she could to get the work done to feel the joy that came when a project was completed even though it would force her to suffer on her way there. She had tried to tell you about her current project however it went over your head and you just planned to support her where you could and let her marvellous mind take the reins.

You hadn't seen her in two days so assumed she hadn't been home at all nor left her work at all, so had likely failed at caring for herself. It was about time that you needed to check up on her so arrived at her workspace with a bag full of takeaway, knowing she could ignore the basic needs of a human being. There you found Lena working away with bags heavily below her bloodshot eyes.

"Have you slept?" You asked her, ignoring basic civilities of a greeting.

"Not since I started this project," she stated as though that wasn't a problem.

"And I assume that you've not eaten either."

She shrugged her shoulders. "Well I should have this done by tomorrow, I'll eat and sleep then."

You shook your head, moving to grab her hand to make her pay attention to you rather than the work she had focused on.

"You've worked hard, haven't you?" You offered. "Just take a break and come back after you've had dinner and gotten some sleep."

A look of disgust crossed her face as taking a break was far from natural for her.

The two of you bickered over the thought for a while, both far too stubborn to give in but the fact that she was tired and hungry, she gave in before you broke.

"Fine," she sighed exasperatedly. "Let's go home and eat and sleep."

You tried to hide your joy that she was going to take care of herself for once. Of course, you understood how much her work meant to her but you needed her to take care of herself.

"Your work is going to be here tomorrow," you said softly as you begun to lead her away from it, glad to get to share a meal and a bed with your girlfriend for even just one night.
