Chap 10 (Sleeping in his lap)

Shawn's POV

"What the fuck!", I cursed when Brian told me that we are out of fuel.

We were on our way back to my condo. I left the party earlier cause Luna was alone at home and it was getting darker.

"What are we gonna do now?", I asked getting out of the car.

"Take a cab. I'll call someone", he suggested.

"Okay then. Take care buddy", I stopped the taxi.

The taxi driver applied brakes in front of my condo. I paid him the fare and unlocked the door. Walking upstairs, I was looking around for Luna. Everything was seeming so cleaned like a crystal clear.

"She really cleaned up this whole place", I smiled and made my way toward her room.

"Ninety-six, ninety-seven, ninety-eight, ninety-nine", I could hear her slow, cracking audible voice behind the closed door.

"Is she counting?", rotating the doorknob slowly, I peeked in and found Luna down sitting at the floor.

"Hundred", she smiled when she saw me. Her smile was too weak as if she would collapse at any moment.

"Luna!", I ran toward her.

"Luna what happened?", I asked taking her fragile body in my arms.

"I knew you that will come to save me", she whispered.

"What happened? Are you all right?", she looked at the door, then held my arms tightly.

"Shawn they're here. They will take me. They will take me to their boss. They will, they--", she was too shocked to speak.

"Hey hey hey Luna no one's here except me", I cupped her angelic face in my hands.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have left you alone in the first place. It's all my fault. I'm sorry Luna", it was my first time seeing someone going through one after the other breakthroughs like this. I certainly wasn't prepared for any of this and was shocked more than ever in my whole life.

"Come here", we stood up to our feet.

Sitting on the bed, I placed her head on my lap gently and covered her with duvets.

"I'm here okay? Close your eyes and don't think about anything. Just relax your mind", I was stroking her hair gently with my one hand while the other one was held by her tightly.

"Luna?", I checked if she was still awake but there was no response.

"It leaves me feeling so sick Luna. Seeing you like this ain't easy. I feel like my heart is on fire, burning in everlasting flames. Whenever I see you my heart skips beats. I'm also not familiar with all this. All I want is to see you living a happy life because I-", I stopped when I heard her soft snores.

"How can she sleep soundly after all that?", I smiled and rested my head at the pillow, inclined with my back.

"Maybe because she feels protected in my presence."
