Keenan

"Are you sure about this Spence?". Looking towards my brother he gave me a soft smile and nod. To say I was nervous was an understatement, all I have known was being by Spencer's side growing up. Although he was an absolute genius and accomplished things a lot faster than I ever could, he did everything he could to help me. Only I was able to return the favor when kids tried to beat him up, and I was the one to knock them out. Spencer Reid was the brain and I, Keenan Reid was the brawn.

Standing outside of the apartment complex, I couldn't help but feel panicked. Spence and I have been a team since all I could remember, and now I have to be away from him, away from my home. After all my safety has been compromised and everyone agreed it would be better for me to be away from the intense cases for a little while, to try to recover. More specifically for me to lay low.

Wrapping his arm around my shoulder, he brought me closer towards him, a gentle kiss placed on the side of my head. "You will be ok Keen, I am always one plane ride away". Even as awkward as he was, Spencer always put my life first, especially when I was put in jeopardy.

Walking into the apartment building and towards the apartment, I let Spence ramble on with the facts he has read about apartments and such. The team may get annoyed by his spew of "useless" facts but I find it quite entertaining and heartwarming. The way his eyes light up when he goes into details about something he loves, or when he goes into this never ending ramble about random things makes me feel like home. Something I was going to miss terribly.

Unlocking the door, I entered the quaint little apartment, to my surprise was filled with furniture and a bookcase full of books. Quickly turning towards the older boy by a couple years, he had a bright smile adorning his features. Letting out a bright laugh I hugged my brother, already knowing the entire team pinched in to help set it up. "You didn't have to do this Spencer"

"We wanted to, I wanted to". The bond I have with my brother is one I admire greatly. He was always that shy and quiet kid growing up who didn't really let anyone into his life. Except he always opened up to me seeing as we were each others lifeline. He was my tutor and human encyclopedia, while I was his bodyguard and social translator.

Placing my bags on the floor I knew Spencer had to make his way back to Quantico. Cases never stop but we were both grateful that the criminals decided to give us an off day. I probably would have had a heart attack if I had to do the move alone. Placing another kiss on my forehead, my brother's brown eyes met my blue ones. With no words needing to be spoken, I gave a soft nod for him to leave.

Leaning against the door frame following my brother's figure until it was out of sight, a small sigh fell passed my lips. Closing the door behind me, I slumped onto the couch positioned against the window, a readers paradise. Surrounded by shelves of books, it felt like home. I was used to being around books, as Spencer's apartment was always filled with hundreds of them.

Glancing around the room, pictures were hung on the wall, all being memories I have created while working at the BAU. A few were just of my brother and I being the "brain and brawn" duo, but most was of the team looking like a badass squad or doing something completely stupid.

Staring at one of the pictures, a sad smile graced my features. It was a picture of Hotch and I, the man who became a father figure, a person who I looked up to besides Spencer. It was a picture of Hotch hugging me protectively after an explosion happened on one of our cases. When the bomb went off, I was separated from the rest of team and had no way of communicating with any of them, everyone thought I was dead. Only as I found a way out of the debris, the first person I saw was Hotch who immediately pulled me into his embrace, his own fear and relief shown brightly in his eyes. He may have been the Unit Chief, but he was family.
