Shaking hands with the group, I could tell they were tense at the idea of someone new joining them, especially someone with federal ties.  With quick introductions, I was brought up to sped with the current case they were dealing with. Hearing what they figured out so far, I stared at the crime board they made. As my eyes wandered back and forth along the pictures and words written, I just felt more drawn to a specific image. One of the crime scene photos.

Approaching the board to get a better look, I was intrigued by how the crime scene was laid out. "Did the witness report anything missing". Turning back to the detectives, I saw one of them looking through the papers before shaking his head. Biting my lip in thought, I could tell they were curious about my thought process.

"What are you thinking". Sighing softly, I grabbed the picture off the board, analyzing the way everything looked. Something just seemed off. Lifting my head towards the close up of the victims, I caught sight of a faint ligature mark.

"From what I can tell, your victims were restrained, you can faintly see ligature marks along the wrist. I would think you would tie someone up if you are trying to get information, or subduing them to get what they are looking for. In worst case they subdued them and tortured them for information/location of something".

Placing the crime scene photo back onto the board, silence filled the whole bullpen, all of them not sure what to say. Nervously messing with my hand, I made eye contact with Hailey who sent an impressed look. "From what we saw the seen, nothing seemed out of place, Mrs. Kravenson said she couldn't find anything out of place".

"Well from what I can gather from just looking at the crime scene and what you found, you are looking for an organized offender. Basically somebody who chose this house or person for a specific reason. We most likely have to do a deep dive of our victims life to figure out why."

Nods circled around the room, all still shell shocked. "You got all of that by just a crime scene photo". Chuckling softly at Adam, I nodded fully facing them.

"I'm from a unit called the BAU. It stands for Behavioral Analysis Unit. In other words I am a profiler, a person who studies an unsubs behavior. The way a body is positioned, the way an unsub does something has a connection to who they are as a person and essentially why they do it. All have a stressor"

"Gotta admit that sounds fun yet stressful". With a soft sigh I leaned against the desk staring at the others.

"It is. I have seen things you wouldn't even imagine, I have interrogated the worst criminals alive. We are good at our job, the elite unit in the FBI but we sometimes can't catch them all.". Falling silent after saying that, I looked at my hands. It was sad statement to say, that even the best of the best can not catch everyone.

Realizing it was a topic I didn't want to talk about, Hailey swooped in. "Why don't you and I go to crime scene. Maybe you can see something we didn't." Nodding my head in appreciation, I followed the blonde down the stairs and out of the precinct.

Sliding into the passenger seat, it was nice not sensing any tension from Hailey. I didn't want to be the new person that makes the work environment tense and uncomfortable. The BAU has seen its fair share of hostile work environments, and each one was worst than the last. As she drive through Chicago, the both of us made a simple conversation, the blonde easing away my tension and anxiety.

"I wouldn't worry about Intelligence to much. It's a little shocking to us that a fed wants to live among normal detectives".

"It's a change no one was expecting, but sometimes chasing the high and mighty has its consequences. I needed to go someplace to lay low, to get better while doing my job". Glancing at the detective next to me, I could see she understood what I meant completely. The way she looked deep in thought, and bit her lip as if she has went through something similar where she had to lay low for her own safety.
