" Oh come on Caye!" Hannah whined flicking a piece of her lettuce at me. She had called me today and had asked me to get lunch with her. We were at Gianni's, a cute little outdoor Italian restaurant in Downtown Manhattan that Hannah swore by. She was telling the truth because the spaghetti and meatballs that I had ordered was amazing. A month and a half in New York had passed by pretty quickly and thankfully without any major incidents with my 'roommate.'
Hannah was trying to convince me to go to the club with her tonight. "Oh I don't know Hannah." I say skeptically," I think I have already done my fair share of partying." She rolled her eyes at me.
" Seriously Caye? High school parties are nothing like clubbing in New York chica!" She pouts," Please Caye! I promise it will be fun."
Well I don't think a party wilder than those parties is something I should be attending.
"I don't think so Hannah. I am trying to avoid the party scene." I said.
"Come on! You can meet my friend Aria. She is so cool." She says grabbing my hand and giving me puppy dog eyes," it will just be us in a VIP room having fun. Nothing flashy."
" Hannah I am not up for the partying."
"Caye please. I really want you there."
"Tell her yes. Tell her yes." The voice in my head repeated slowly. "C'mon Caye. Trust yourself. Tell her yes."
I raise an eyebrow at her. "You promise? Nothing flashy?" I asked.
"I promise! Very low-key."
"Okay Hannah." I threw my hands up in defeat and she squealed.
"We are going to have so much fun." She says as we get up, ready to leave.
"Wait I have to text Ronald." She says taking her phone out and texting her driver. 5 minutes later, a limo pulls up to the curb and Hannah enters. "Are you coming?" She asks poking her head through the open door.
I let out a laugh. " No thank you. I will just take a cab."
She rolled her eyes at me. "You are so weird Caye." She says pouting," anyways text me your address and I will come get you at 10:00. Bye Chica."
I nodded and waved as she closed the door and the limo drove off.
"Arghhhh!" I scream in frustration, throwing the sweater I had in my hands to the floor. My room was littered with discarded clothing. It was 9:20 and Hannah would be coming to get me in 40 minutes so we could go clubbing and I had a big problem.
I had nothing to wear. I had mostly packed casual clothes and shoes because I hadn't planned on joining the New York party scene at all. I had an unlimited card that would get me the most expensive outfit money could buy but I doubt clothing stores would be open this late. I flung myself on the bed, feeling annoyed. I had no choice. I had to cancel. I picked up my phone and dialed Hannah.
"Are you ready?" She asked as she answered on the first ring.
"No I cant come. I have nothing to wear." I pout, rolling over so I was laying on my stomach.
"Oh no no no. Don't give that bullshit. I will be over there in 10 minutes." She hung up.
Well shit.
I called the front desk to let them know to let her come up when she arrived then I started picking the clothing off the floor and putting them back in the closet.
Exactly ten minutes later, the door bell rang and I rushed to open it. Hannah stood there wearing a short gold strapless dress and gold heels with her hair in a topknot. She looked amazing but that wasn't what I was focused on. Behind her was a clothing rack with dresses and purses and shoes.
